Jupp Heynckes [Josef Heynckes]

Discussions about the former / present players & staff, and their personal life. Was a player fined for speeding? Did a former player become a coach? Find it all here.

Well I suppose that one of coaching tasks is the man management, obviously the players should be ashamed of their actions but the coach needs to be blamed as well for not keeping/finding the right balance within the squad. It's always grey in these situations, never black or white.

I can't think of anyone I've seen who is as bad as him. Admittedly I'm young and there are many coaches I've never seen but let's say he's the worst in the 21st century so far.

Are you receptive to all this stuff? I've been calling for his head for almost a year now... If anything, I blame them for not doing it sooner!

He was unlucky vs Real... we were not trashed...
My only disappointment was vs BVB in the semis of the DFB

Klinsmann was our worst coach...

All the others had their ups and downs...

I agree about Real (although many - like #12 - will disagree) but as I said at the time, that just happened to be our only good period while Ancelotti was here, apart from his first 5 or so games. When the part that stands out is when we are IN form rather than out of form, you know there's something really bad going on.

It was a clear step down very early on and it only got worse with time. It's too simplistic to blame the players IMO.

As for Klinsmann, I explained in the previous post why I believe we have a worse opinion of Klinsmann than he deserves; although yes, he wasn't good and is definitely second worst. However, I am 99% sure Klinsmann would have done at least as well as Ancelotti last season with the same squads, same opponents, and same injuries.

Really great article about all of Jupp's coaching career(it's in German, but if you, like me, can't read German, you can try google translating it and only miss half the nuance). Notably, people tend to think of Jupp as a "pragmatic" coach like Ancelotti, but in reality he's much more like an older, much more experienced version of the "tactical masters" like Pep, Klopp, or Tuchel; in fact, he began his career as the equivalent of Nagalsmann. The only difference is that Jupp has seen far too much football to have a philosophy at this point.

Julius Caesar was actually an awful populist who effectively reinstated a monarchy in Rome (after they had sworn never to bare a king in Rome ever again). Brutus was a hero of the Republic.

According to this article, Bayern have paid around 1,5 million € for Heyncke´s wish co-trainer Peter Hermann to Fortuna Dusseldorf.
As well it is estimated that Heynckes will make about 10 million € as salary.

Statistics are like miniskirts . What they reveal is tantalizing, but what they hide is crucial.

While we all get more old after 4 and half years of Pep and Ancelotti, Heynckes keep healthy and the same coach who left us because the board.

I dont know exactly how Heynckes think about rotation concept, in his 2012-2013 era, Bayern just have 13 world class players in his squad, the eleven players who won the champions league plus Kroos and Badstuber.

So he didnt have too many option for apply the rotation concept as he have right now, but what I remember very good of Heynckes is that he never doubt about who must be the players to begin the important champions league games, no like Ancelotti that need hours before the game to make his final decision.

He did rotate more than what we think.

In 2012/13 :

CB :
Van Buyten played 1910 minutes
Boateng played 3340 minutes
Badstuber played 1440 minutes
Dante played 4000 minutes.

MF :
Luiz Gustavo played 2030 minutes
Javi Martinez played 3100 minutes
Schweinstieger played 3670 minutes
Kroos played 2860 minutes
Tymoshchuk played 900 minutes

AT :
Shaqiri played 1900 minutes
Robben played 2200 minutes
Ribéry played 3230 minutes
Müller played 3570 minutes
Gomez and Pizarro both a lot injured played 2300 minutes
Mandzukic played 2850 minutes

Where he did not rotate at all :

RB :

Lahm 4100 minutes
Rafinha 750 minutes

LB :
Alaba 3200 minutes
Contento 650 minutes

If he did rotate it is also because of injury, which we'll get also this season for sure.
Bayern 3-3-3-1 build-up under Heynckes :
Neuer - Boateng Hummels Thiago - Kimmich Vidal Alaba - Robben Müller James - Lewandowski
Neuer- Boateng Vidal Hummels- Kimmich Martinez Alaba- Robben James Ribéry- Lewandowski
