Well Friday is a weekday, so we'll still be in the amateur leagues by then ;)

Off-Topic: We do love 'Klinnsi.' He has given our national team an injection of youth, and basically is doing with our team what he did with Germany circa 2005-6. And look what that lead to with Germany's team. Germany obviously had/has a greater talent pool, but it's great to have a coach who is willing to give a bunch of youngsters a chance and to put together a new and refreshed, if you will, team. Our country was clinging to Donovan, Dempsey, Gooch, Bradley, etc., all of whom are not getting younger, and Klinsmann is building a foundation for a future team that will at least be competitive, even if not necessarily world cup winners. Anyway, I pay far more attention to the German national team than the US, but I do hope Green chooses us  He'd be a great addition and let's be real, unless he turns out to be the next Müller/Reus/Götze, Germany doesn't need him (even if he does, they really don't need him)

Yeah, I think Klinssi been doing a pretty good job with the USMNT, been pleasantly surprised with how well the team is doing at the WC qualifications :)

Being the only Bayern fan (among my friends), I was pretty horrified when he was appointed the coach, while the others went with the "we're getting a good European coach!" vibe. They probably will not understand why any Bayern fans would not like to remember "Klinssi the Bayern coach" days [-X

As for the latest update on the international callup news for Green, Klinssi decided to not call him up for the friendlies this time round.

After careful consideration, Green will not be included on the roster this time around; a move Klinsmann says is in the best interest of the player. “We are going to give Julian an opportunity to breathe,” said Klinsmann. “All of these conversations and attention can be a bit overwhelming for a young player, so we decided to take the foot off the pedal and let him focus on his work at Bayern. We had a great conversation. He’s a mature young man and he clearly has a bright future. I told him that when the time is right, the door is wide open.”

Or perhaps Green could be having second thoughts after someone from the German camp's had a talk with him? Looks strange how they would put a kid's hopes so high only to disappoint him a couple of weeks later.

America needs to move quick to tie him down if they really want him. If Klinsmann wasn't the manager I'd expect the Americans to have moved a bit quicker!

Yes but would they have scouted him in the first place?

I'd say with Klinsmann as an intermediary, it's advantage USA.

Yes, Klinsmann has been doing a very good job with the U.S. MNT and his team has had one of it's best years in U.S. soccer history. I had full confidence in him since day 1 when he was hired back in late July of 2011. I believe Bayern didn't give Klinsmann enough time to succeed but that's in the past and both have moved on.

What makes you say that? If Klinsmann wasn't the coach I don't think Green would have even gotten scouted and called by the national team coach, because there are ignorant American coaches like Bruce Arena who believe that there are better players than Green playing college soccer in the United States right now. Klinsmann has been doing an excellent job convincing young talented dual nationals to play for the U.S. national team, like John Anthony Brooks who plays for Hertha Berlin (Bayern offered him a contract 2 years ago) and Aron Johannsson (AZ from the Eredivisie).

Great news to hear that Bayern have locked up Julian Green to a pro contract, hopefully this is just the start of a long and prosperous union for mutual benefit.
