I pretty much don't care if he laughs with his friend, parties all night after the game, as long as he does his crap right on the pitch...Vidal has done that in the past and I'm sure he still does that from time to time...but you can not argue with what Vidal does on the pitch. Not really the case with Boa anymore.

For sure, I wouldn't be able to do either, if I performed the way he did against Real anyway.

I think he played monstrously well at the Bernabeu while still carrying an injury. Him and Hummels will be here for a looooong time.

I agree he played well, it's a huge comeback after the game in München.
That focused look I missed seeing on his face...that was there once again. No non-sense, pointless, angry gestures, constant yelling at the referee etc...solid performance.

Despite his shortcomings, and me believing that he's close to finished, when you single out his best moments he looks truly unmatchable at his peak level. Football personification of volatile stock with high risk and super high return.

His shooting technique - including long distance shots and his passing range - is nothing short of incredible, particularly for a defender in my opinion. His game reading dramatically improved under Pep after his first season which made him adapt perfectly to Pep's insanely high defensive line - he was no longer so easy to get around. There are not many players who could play in Pep's system as well as he can.

His pace is still one of a kind.

I get the feeling that his recovery after his first long term injury did not go well - it seemed to me like he was too distracted, and thus never really managed to regain that monstrous and well balanced physique that made him powerful, fast and resistant to injuries at the same time. He simply looked far too big once he returned and seemed to have lost some of his pace, he does not even look like his old self anymore.

Regardless of how well he played in Madrid after flopping in München, I just can't see him being as focused as he was 2-3 years ago. I really hope that he will get back to his best, because we'd then have the best CB pairing in the world - but I just can't see that happening anymore.

One thing is for sure, he'll need to get a good string of games now to have any shot at a come back - if he can't go at least several months without a new injury, his situation will be very difficult.

His pure defensive abilities haven't improved one bit though... Defensive heading, one-on-one marking, clearing...

Is he staying? I have read reports that Chelsea are after him.

The real question is should he stay at Bayern?

That's not a real question though, is it. [-X

Smart move in my opinion, a healthy Boateng is the most important step...

Him not being played on the small box is still the biggest injustice in professional sports since Jordan walked into baseball. :coffee:

Wasn't he separated from his wife? Or is this a new woman? :-/

PD: Hummels already did the blond thing, as a wagger on some kinda bet last season.
