Who would have thought? I mean where else? As a fullback under Guardiola? Certainly not.

That's the biggest non-statement I've seen in quite a while.

I didn't see a direct quote to be honest. Maybe I missed it.

Was it ever in question that Boateng wanted a contract extension? The key factor was rather always what Bayern was planning.

That being said, Boateng deserves a contract extension and it would be a good move for the club, too. I don't think Boateng will ever be a major earner at Bayern.

Van Buyten will be gone for good after the season. Kirchhoff is looking promising but it's still uncertain to how much he'll amount to. Dante is not getting any younger and we'll see how well Martínez settles in central defense.

It's not like we're packed on the position.

My worry was that if Pep played Martinez as a CB he would go with a Dante/Martinez pairing but i guess thats not the case atm, but it would be interesting if Badstuber can get back to his old self after a long injury, that would make the situation interesting imo. Cause when Badstuber was at his peak he was far better than Boateng and im curious to see how Pep feels about him....

He took a major leap in my book after the CL Final. Whereas everyone was expecting him to screw up and lose us another CL, he held his own admirably and even outperformed Dante. Robbery always get credit for the winner, but it was his vision and long ball that set it up. If he keeps it up, he's going to be a world beater soon.

Finally living up to expectations. A lot of our defensive problems will be solved once his partner finds his form. :dante:
