Do you think it's fair to Javi being third -maybe even fourth- choice CB?

Do you know he will be?
Do you think he's that bad he's not even a competitor to Boateng and Hummels or even Süle? :?
Do you think competition is bad?

Yeah right, let's sell him so everybody is happy. #-o
Doesn't matter if Kimmich and Alaba have to play CB in a CL semi again.

Last season against Real Madrid second leg we had Martinez suspended and both Boateng and Hummels nursing injuries and rushed back with little to no full team training beforehand. And the match went into extra time. I'm sorry but the players should be aware that without strength in depth you would be basing your Champions League campaign purely on luck with injuries

No it can definitely work with the right methods, man management and rotation. Gladly J.Martinez is a top professional and can play equally good as CB and DM. Indeed the competition in both departments is ruthless but he can find his place maybe not as a unquestionable starter no matter what etc but he can fill the gaps perfectly fine. Plus that we have an ugly injury history.

I'm backing Javi Martinez 100% he doesn't complain, he puts pressure into the internal competition and above all he plays with passion. If only that blunder against RM(red card) he would have an -almost- perfect year. He was so solid last year and free from major injuries, I enjoyed him again bossing like 2013.

Selling him would be a mistake. Considering his positions, versatility and temper, he could play at least 5 or more seasons at maximum capacity. The cruciate ligament tear is a drag I know, but with a bit of luck, he could stay healthy for a long time. Furthermore, I have no doubts about his passion and professionalism, he never raised a voice about being played outside his ideal position or on any other matter whatsoever. A KEEPER :coffee:

What the fock man ?
First of all, don't put Javi as DM no more.Carlo told that he's playing in MF just because there was no Vidal,Thiago,Rudy in the preseason, and he's going to use Javi as CB.Period.
The last couple of seasons showed us that we need 4 good CB's..
I don't believe (as much as i want) that Boa,Javi and Mats can be fit all season.Even Süle missed 202 days in 14/15 with CLR..
Now we have 4 good CB's,and that's perfectly fine.

Midfield Martinez is best Martinez.

More seriously, it seems like Jupp understands Martinez much better as a player than anyone else in the world. The moment he comes back Martinez starts playing like it's 2013 again.

Did we watch the same match? He was tremendous.

Quoting the official website:

The 29 year-old had to be substituted in the 70th minute of the 5-0 win having been one of Bayern’s most impressive players up to that point. Deployed by Heynckes as a defensive midfielder alongside his compatriot Thiago, Martínez won 77% of his tackles and had an impressive pass completion rate of 95%.

You keep repeating he had a 90 something successful rate. Why? He had 50 passes in total! Hell, Hummels had more than double that.
Then you keep exposing his successful tackling rate. Why? He had less than half the tackles Thiago did.

So the two stats you are using are really not that good if contrasted to total output. He had the less distance covered of anyone on the pitch. Hell, had Ulreich run a couple of more km the two would have been jogging together around the Allianz.

So no, he DID NOT have a good match despite having a couple of very important turnovers. Yes.

You're comparing players who played 93 minutes (there were 3 minutes of injury time) to one who played 69 minutes. I don't know. I was really impressed by Martinez, especially his sliding tackles to win the balls, something we haven't seen in a while with Alonso et al.

Guys who critic or do not want Javi as 6, should ask themselves where they were in the 2013 season, he gave Bayern the balance that Heynckes was looking for after years of Bayern struggling on defense.
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!
