The first yellow was rather clear and obvious and he actually was the player who lost the ball, he got yellowed trying to recover it.
The second yellow looked a little soft but definitely callable...and it actually looked like Ronaldo was trying to avoid contact but couldn't.

It doesn't matter if you are playing well, if you get sent off in 60 minutes...Boateng and Martinez demonstrated two completely different kinds of horrible today.

I don't think this was the only decisive factor though.

martinez should be moved to CM next season.

Not regista, but CM.

Maybe this is why Javi shouldn't play as the last man in defense because he's a destroyer... he was good but then flushed the game down the toilet.

Truly boneheaded on the second yellow but I must question why he was even put in a position to have to make such a tackle....

It's the first yellow that maddens me more. There was no need for a tactical foul in that part of the pitch imo

I would tend to agree, it was stupid as well.
Personally I felt the second was a rather soft yellow though I perfectly understand the referee calling it. But again, knowing you're already on a yellow it was just madness to throw his body at him like that.

I don't think that we were going to be caught... but I am not blaming JM either, it was a split second decision ... obviously wrong ...

I don't agree in this case. Even if they would have scored, at least he wouldn't have been sent off early in the second half and still within a chance of equalising with 11 players. Plus he is now unavailable to play in the second leg. If it was in the dying minutes, it would have been more justifiable IMO.

If Alonso hadn't messed up that play there'd have been no need fir that tackle...

At the same time I'm mad at him, I'm kind of glad he made those tackles. If he didn't, we'd probably be mad at him for being too soft, just like in that Juve match last year when Benatia didn't foul Morata before that goal...

No way... in other circumstances we might have reacted that way but with the concern surrounding Hummels, having both Boateng and Martinez available for next week was very important. It should have affected his decision.
