no money involved for Athletic. Martinez might spend 4 month in the bench and Bayern two windows transfers closed... but no money for Athletic club in any case

Exactly, he's just putting on a show for their fans.

He's a joke of a president for a joke of a club.

no
he's preventing other clubs to make offers to the young and talented players Athletic Club has (Muniain, Galarreta, DeMarcos, Ibai, Herrera...)
not a show for the fans

I think if they could they would.

I'd bet they can. the rule 17 of FIFA regulations it's quite clear and obviosly applicable to this case.

nothing to do with pride... Urrutia is trying to set up a good team, a good proyect. You can't do that if you got your most important players are leaving every season. He promised that he would do anything he could to avoid that and he's keeping his word.

Well no more need for that as your players are already starting to stall their contract extention negotations ;) You'll have more than one Llorente in a couple years time.

I'm pretty sure that our lawyers have a copy of the FIFA regulation somewhere!

Or maybe Urrutia forgot about this, maybe you can ring him up to remind him about it. And oh, in the meantime maybe ask to be his lawyer too?

There is a reason why the medical examination was done after 0:00h. It isn't a violation of his contract when it was done the same day as the contract was terminated.

By the way I really didn't think that Martinez was that good on the ball. His low pass looked precise, sharp and technically adequate not to mention his 40m diagonal cross to Müller. In conclusion our central midfield could be really elevated onto another level with Martinez alongside Schweinsteiger. I'm really eager to see more from him. Damn WC qualifiers...

Yeah, they come way too early in the season, when teams want to get in shape.

I guess he meant that he thought he wasn't that good on the ball UNTIL he saw him play last sunday.

German Bundestag will send one warning to Basque Country and entire Spain and everything will be solved with Martinez' transfer. 8)

I liked the down field vision he had when he tried to hit the long pass to Shaqiri, hopefully more of those type of passes from him will connect

For those who missed the match or just want to see him play again:

He actually attempted 3 long passes:
- to Muller, which was a perfect pass, but bad control from muller
- to Shaqiri, which was slightly to powerful, but taking the distance into account he was actually very close
- one to Lahm, wich was also almost perfect, but Lahm was to lazy/tired to chase after it. If we were playing against Real Madrid in the CL with 0-0 i am pretty sure he would have cought it

All I've seen it's safe passes.. nothing any C level player couldn't have done

and for long pasess... What makes you think he's good at giving those long pasess?
Are you in need for good passer?
