Well that's good, and I sure hope he gets some playing time in the process. He needs match practice with top players.

sorry guys, but am I the only one who is not impressed by Javi at all? Luiz looks way classier. feels like he's too clumsy and doesn't know what he's doing. i thought by now he would have integrated a bit better... considering that both schweinie and Jupp speak Spanish.

What game have you been watching?!?! Granted that Gustavo has scored great goals for Bayern but he hasn't offered the same piercing passes and technical skills that Martinez has offered. I agree that Martinez hasn't done anything €40m worthy yet but he has offered much more creativity from the DM position than Gustavo has offered his entire career at Bayern

I'm pleased with him especially defensively, but I am sure he will improve.

What people don't understand is HE'S NOT. F#CKING. WORTH. 40. MILLION. He's more 25M, the release clause was 40M but his market value is somewhere around the 25M mark and for his market value. Some of you crucify him after an off game and a game where we didn't break a sweat.
Speaks volumes about some of you lot here. For 40M we might have to wait some time, but for actual value he's doing pretty well.
Some of your reactions are so knee-jerk and the justification for that? "OHMAYGAWD40MILLIONHEHAZTOPROOVEHEZWORTHITNAO!".
You sicken me calling yourselves Bayern Munich fans.

I think he has the transfer fee curse, now that Martinez has the highest transfer fee people have to hate on him just like Gomez and Robben :P

There is unfortunately a high expectation with a price tag like that.

It's not his fault, and the fans must remember that. He will improve, and he will prove his worth to our team. Of that, I am 100% sure.

What I like about him is that I feel assured with him on the ball.

Agreed! With Gustavo im always afraid if he is pressured or makes a loose pass he will have to make a bad challenge to get it back

That is a very important point.

Does he always show the 40M-magic that this 40M-man should show every game, because he cost us 40M and henceforth should win us games single-handedly 40M-style?

No, but when he has the ball and gets pressed, he almost always (if not always) finds a SAFE option to pass to. This is what we lacked severely last year, especially when Schweinsteiger was out. Also, this is the type of skill that makes Barca and Spain so scary. They rarely do something super flashy. They are simply SUPER SAFE.

I knew beforehand that we'll have a 40M-man discussion in the media and here among fans, and I was already sick of it before it even started. I guess I'll have to cope with it, but what's more important: I hope Javi won't let it get under his skin.

As far as I know Schweinsteiger does not know Spanish. But I did read that he learnt something, but it was very basic and most probably just a few phrases to be able to tell them to Javi (probably some rude phrases he researched on the Internet).
