During the Martinez transfer we saw quite a few conflicting opinions in regards to Bilbao's actions and the way they handled the whole affair. Bayern fans understandably enough could not understand this 'hotel California' way of treating players and Bilbao's supporters saw nothing but pride and loyalty at stake. The question remained as to what the rest of the world thought about the whole ordeal.

I found a very interesting article about Athletic wich I took the liberty to translate and post. Please find it on our blog; links at the top of the page right. Comments of course always welcomed.

What a beast, his performance yesterday was brilliant. He was all over the place, like a Gustavo-Schweinsteiger hybrid. I can't wait to see him as a starter or versus better teams.

Definitely worthy of the 8 jersey. He was box-to-box active and yet looked comfortably competent at the back.
Also, Luis, how's the wrists doing? Would you like some lemon with those cuts?

Martinez and Gustavo can play in same squad, Martinez plays at midfield, as i know, Gustavo often plays left back for Brazil. Martinez at midfield, Gustavo at left-back, it's good for Bayern to face Barcelona to lock Messi. his pass for Toni Kroos was brillant

Gustavo cannot play left back when Alaba returns from injury.

Gustavo can play as a holding midfielder if Bayern ever decide to play a 4-3-3 which I think we should experiment with when Schweinsteiger is not in the line up.

Gustavo will get his time, I really hope that not starting every match will not hurt his confidence.

Javi CAN play CB if we wanted him to, Imagine the ball playing defense    : Alaba-Badstuber-Javi-Lahm. With Mandzu in our team and if we get another good passer at CDM we'd have 11 amazing passers in the team :D

Very true, but I think the best would be rotating the double six and playing 4-3-3 sometimes.

For the stats they count that as a cross, and I think it's ok that they do that. Having a cross intercepted happens way more often and can even happen when the cross was really good. An intercepted pass is more often than not the passer's fault.

^ Ah didn't know that. So, it was indeed 100% passing accuracy.

Uli Köhler (some random newsperson who is always on the "Säbener Strasse") said today to Sky Sports News HD (german version) that the number 8 will start tomorrow against Valencia.

Heynckes said: "I think he can play. He improves with every training session and has the acceptance of his teammates. Although he is just 24 yrs old he is already a personality."
