I still feel like the English don't know that.

I think he will do well in PL, like many other German CB's

Well, if you take the sign-on fee, agent signing fee, the salary, the bonuses and the time spent by the doctors, and subtract that by the fine he got for showing up at his presentation wearing Nike, it is still far more money than I earned in my lifetime so far.

Luckily he was a free transfer. Considering the schalke loan fee and whatever transfer fee we would get, we may actually break even with his wages.

Was there a loan fee though? More often than not there isn't one and the club loaning the player pays a percentage of the player's salary, that may be less than 100%.

Thanks. However, is this additional to (at least part of) his salary being paid? Or did they pay us €500k to loan him for 1.5 years while we were riddled with paying his salary?

Sammer's few failures ? :?
Thought him, Rode and Sinan Kurt all were Sammer transfers. The rest were mainly Reschke or Pep Guardiola.
Think it's fair to say that every transfer initiated mainly by Sammer was a failure, altough Rode was playing well when he played he'll most likely leave this summer.

Those are not failures. They were very cheap investments. Rode turned out to be decent cover. The others were projects, never expected or depended upon to break into the starting team. It didn't work out big deal the cost to the club was marginal.

The big targets I believe Guardiola and Sammer target together. Vidal is not exactly a Guardiola pick, he's been on the Bayern radar for years. Douglas Costa another example Guardiola may have picked but the club went out and got. Martinez, Thiago, etc. Sammer made those things happen. He is doing well the job he was paid to do.

On my phone I can't tell if that's head bashing. I assume it was Sammers job to turn Guardiolas wish into reality.

Rode, Kirchhof and Kurt grew on Sammer's dung as we say in germany. "Projects", fantastic. Waste of money/wages. Rode a decent cover against Darmstadt & Ingolstadt. Gaudino could've done the same job.
Vidal was most likely targeted by Reschke, former board member of his old club and the guy who brought him to germany in the first place. Costa was Pep's pick and his work. Just look at Costa's recent interview. Martínez and Thiago were wishes from our last 2 coaches. If you think Sammer made all those things happen I don't know why you always read of Reschke & Rummenigge doing the negotiations.
The cost to the club is irelevant. What's left is that "Sammer's" transfers didn't really help us at all.

I don't know what Sammer is doing at the club, only thing I know he is heavily involved in the build-up of our new youth centre (source: Doppelpass) but "his" transfers were failures.
