You both missed my point. Even when Zidane was playing a 10, he preferred Isco over James. That's a sign of him just plain not liking James.

The guy's got talent... But there's a reason he wasn't playing at Real as well...

The reason is pretty obvious, Zidane stopped playing with a number 10 and preferred a DM like Casemiro at the tip of the midfield triangle. I don't know about any personal issues but the approach made sense since with Kroos and Morris they have enough creative in the midfield James was seen as expendable. At Bayern Carlo lines up with an AM so James should thrive as he did his first season at R.Madrid...

Carlo said that he will rotate James on RW, LW and trequartista.

We'll see - I'm afraid our bought just bought him because we missed out on all the possible quality RWs and he's a leftie...

aterford wrote:Favored another lineup and didn't like him are functionally the same. The point is that certain players don't mesh well with certain managers or systems; it doesn't make them a bad player. Tom Brady would be terrible if his coach wanted to play a read-option offense, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he's a great QB, if you know what I mean. For me there are 1,000 reasons a player might not play and only a handful have anything to do with actual talent...

Of course it's preseason and there's nowhere near enough to make a verdict yet, but I think there's reason for optimism regarding James.

No that's not the same, cause liking is a personal matter that's not related to sport...

Fair enough (although Isco is a VERY talented player as well...)

There are still some people who believe that James is not a world class, but a "average" player. HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Good.
Here are the 4 of most expensive AM's in the World. The other one is Isco.

I thought he would know more English at the very least but fortunately we have a Spanish contingent and a manager who is very much bilingual....

But he speaks English which makes it much easier to address the squad compared to James who doesn't have a great understanding....

Hey #12

I've read you complaining about Gnabry, Brandt, Alexis, James, Goretzka, Tolisso..... Who were you expecting us to buy in a perfect world? :o

He was not one of my favourite options cause I thought we would overpay for him. But a player of his caliber for that price (5+5+35) is a steal. Maybe I'm more excited because I'm Spanish and follow La Liga so I know what to expect from him, but can't believe how some of you react as if we had signed Altintop [-X
I TRUST IN ARJEN ROBBEN

James Rodríguez [James David Rodríguez Rubio]

Postby pyrasur » Tue Jul 25, 2017 1:41 am

I was super excited to have returned and found we'd gotten James Rodriguez. I thought this transfer was more likely and made more sense for Bayern than Alexis.

Sorry Punk .

Anyway, may he follow the steps of Arjen Robben in RM's loss being our gain.

Hey, I'm pro-James! I just think we should have also gotten Alexis, and maybe not Tolisso, so we could have played;

Alexis-Lewy-Müller
Thiago-Javi-James
Alaba-Hummels-Boateng-Kimmich
Neuer

You definitely misread

I don't want Brandt and Gnabry here... All others, given the right circumstances, are fine... Alexis was too expensive and James alone is not helping us, at least how the coach utilizes him... Goretzka is way too early and free next year... Tolisso was more expensive than Bahayoko, and he's going to a PL side (still think I never said anything bad about him though?!?)

If anyone is still doubtful of the value of James or of how ridiculously good the deal we made was, let's take a stroll down goalimpact lane.

Can't see tweet? Click here!
We're getting him for ~45 million.

Image
PSG are willing to pay 222 million for him. Picture source.

Image Picture source
Dortmund paid 30 million for him last season.

Can't see tweet? Click here!
We paid 24 million for him back in 2009, which is at least equivalent to 60 million in the present.

Of course, it wouldn't do to get too overly excited over James. He's really good, but about average for our starting lineup because our starting lineup is ridiculously good. Don't expect him to start winning Ballon d'ors like the best winger in the world does:

We only have one outfield player as good as Messi, someone which our offense tends to look sterile without(Neuer also rated as better than Messi because keepers are rated rather highly in the latest algorithm and Neuer is the best keeper in the world).

Finally,

is hopefully ours for 12.5 million, which would be an even better deal than James.

I'm probably dumb af, but those grafs don't mean shit to me if they're not embedded with context.

I won't lose any sleep if he doesn't score in these preseason matches or upcoming glorified friendly, he has whole batch of competitive fixtures to do that....
