I'm convinced that he will make it, but he should be given a real rest, like one or two more league games. He's still young, and after his latest performances he needs to refocus mentally. Giving him a rest (forced because of suspension) for just one midweek game is not enough.

I know this will expose the defence with Rafinha attacking too much. But if we have a top CB and if Boateng can play consistently at a high level and Rafinha learns to defend as well, then this should work spot on

We can not satisfy our own selfish interest just create space for Muller and Kroos, we will get destroy with that starting eleven against a serious opponent,Tymo or Gustavo must play alongside Schweini, if we want to be taken serious and want Balance in our team. Moreover Tymo has played extremely well this season, both in going forward and breaking of up attacks, so why would you want to bench him over Muller who has been very Mediocre of recent...?

Does Badstuber seems to be the 9th best player to you...?

Any ranking system that has van Buyten as the #4 best defender must not be very accurate

I saw that too and was wondering who who mention it first. You have to admit he has been playing much better this season so it has to be at least somewhat accurate. I have always found the Castrol ratings to be a good snapshot of player ratings at any given timme.

Seemed like someone was using his name, at least according to Google Translation services:
Several newspapers and online services reported in recent days, Holger Badstuber did after returning from an away game at FC Bayern forgot his phone on the plane and therefore asked a staff member of FC Bayern, he designed the "short way" again. Ultimately, therefore, an airport employee had been terminated, had this "short way" is not prevented. Holger Badstuber has nothing to do with this matter in the least: He had not forgotten his smartphone and therefore no one asked him to get it back.
God, are you there? Shut up son, Gómez is scoring!

Bads better than Mats!

Postby tflags » Fri Dec 30, 2011 2:14 pm

At least according to Kicker. Their editorial went through 'intensive discussions' and a successful first half season, Bads dethroned Hummels out of its top perch position. Which makes you wonder which part made the discussion more intense? His own goal against Napoli or the unreachable ball against City. Then again, he has had some solid performances at the start of the Liga.

Badstuber calls for "more communication, so that we can turn off the carelessness."

I didn't want to say this... I feared I might jinx him.... But he has been performing superbly for the past few games... He seems to play with much more determination these days... he has totally convinced me that he can be a perfectly reliable CB for us... I'm very happy with his development...

He really has, but he can't do it alone. He's like Gomez in that regard - if the team plays well in general, he ups his game noticeably.

Then again Holger is younger and this could change in the future.
The ideal team

I tire of the (almost) continual derision of Holger. He is a very good defender and a very accurate passer. He starts on the national team and is a key player there. I don't know why he has been singled out on this board in the past. You don't see complaints about him elsewhere in the sports media world. =D>

There is only one certain thing about Holger this season: HE WON'T SCORE! NO MATTER how many poles he rattles.
