So let's get things straight:

1) The media claims that Müller-Wohlfahrt was blamed and will resign.
2) Bayern say they know nothing about it.
3) Müller-Wohlfahrt officially resigns.
4) Media and fans alike go in a frenzy.
5) Days later, Sammer says Müller-Wohlfahrt was not blamed.

If #5 was true, what took Bayern so long to say it?!

so who is to blame...? his staff? the fitness coaches? the head coach? I think we'll get the answer in a month and half time.

Why in a month and a half time? Didn't MW say he'll issue a statement next week?

It seems clear to me from the reports that
1. there were issues between Guardiola and Mull earlier
2. Rummenigge said something to Mull after the Porto-game that Mull might have taken the wrong way
3. Bayern were caught totally by surprise with that resignation.

Sammer is trying to do damage control. Whatever Rummenigge said, Mull took it as being blamed for the defeat. Mull shouldn't have resigned without talking to the club, much less by communicating it to the media rather than the club. Looks to me like overreaction in a stressful time on both sides, and now we have a situation no one wanted. I don't think this would have happened if Uli was there. I know that he supported Mull, especially when it comes to not rushing players out of injuries. That's what I'm worried over now, that we now get one of those departments where players are made fit for the next 90 minutes at all costs. Think about some of MW's treatments what you like, but with him I knew they had some protection. Even his critics give him that.

With the constant tension between him and Pep, with what went down when Thiago got mistreated in Spain...the sarcastic clapping, and we don't even know what else...this talk might have been the last drop.

Besides when you are on top of your field you'll take criticism much harder, especially from people who probably have no clue what they are talking about anyway.

If it's a question of choosing between Pep and HWMW, you pick the coach, because this is a football club, not a research laboratory.

Pep might need a doctor for his own injuries pretty soon. :?

My first thought was that the team spirit would suffer permanently. After mulling :P it over a couple of days, I think that fans' reactions are much more extreme than players'. These players are professionals. They've seen coaches and teammates come and go, they themselves have been part of controversial transfers. They know nothing's really permanent in the world of football.

IMHO, the biggest shock was the way Dr. M-W left. It tells that feelings or ego were badly hurt. After a stressful and intense match emotions and adrenaline were running high. A few thoughtless words or a wrong tone of voice was probably enough. And if the one saying those words were KHR, a person the doctor has a long history with, it probably hurt worse than Pep's criticism. Doctor's resignation may have been an act on impulse. After sending the statement to media it was already too late to retract.

The NT players continue getting treatment from Dr. M-W if needed, and I think that's perfectly logical. Less room for miscommunication that way. I don't believe that the players will be divided into Pep backers and HWMW backers. That would be a bit childish.

As Neuer said everybody has their own opinion about this case. I doubt there's only one truth.

Bild says Alaba, Ribery and Badstuber already visited MW's practice yesterday.

According to some information trouble has been brewing because he refused to treat Thiago after Thiago went to barcelona for an operation [source]

Robben just told German TV that he'll continue to see MW ("the best doctor in the world"), too. I'm beginning to wonder, who will the new doc even treat?

Rummenigge talks to Bild today, saying that players who are still injured will continue to be treated by MW and that they won't try to stop any player from seeing him. He says they are planning on improving the organization of the medical department and that MW will take part in the consultations. Asked whether there will be a return of the doc he says they'll talk things over in a few weeks. Kicker says they're in talks about "new forms of cooperation".

Expect him to be back next season then, one way or another.

So he's resigned but he hasn't stopped treating Bayern players, and will still keep on doing it. So what exactly did he and his team resign from, just being present in training and in matches?
