agreed....
I think Madrid would be a good place for hunting this summer... they have a lot of talented youngster-midfielders as backup... at some point, some of them will want away.... maybe we can find a Robbery backup there...

They are even talking about keeping Adebayor if City goes nice on pricing... Somehow I feel Madrid will be the demise of Mou. But that is borderline off topic of course...

Goal.com wrote:Real Madrid midfielder Hamit Altintop has revealed that he spurned the chance to join a club in England this summer to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 28-year-old signed a four-year contract with the Spanish giants last week after seeing out his contract with Bayern Munich.

Altintop, who won the Bundesliga twice with Bayern in his four years in Munich, has now revealed that playing for Madrid was a chance he could not turn down.

"My agent put my name in the box because he knew Madrid were looking for a versatile player,” the Turkey international is quoted as saying by Madrid’s official website.

“It would have been much easier to stay in the Bundesliga or go to England, but the challenge of playing for Real Madrid piqued my interest.

"Jose Mourinho and I spoke in English and he sounded very upbeat and convinced,” he continued. “He knows I can play in several different positions."

Altintop can play on the flanks as well as through the middle of the pitch.

FussballTransfers.com might have just hinted the answer to the most coveted question in Bayern Munich's world: Why did José Mourino wanted Hamit Altintop?

Apparently he wanted Hamit as a ...

Right Back! This of course would make LvG's shufflings look like child's play. And there we were paying 10+ mil for defenders and Mou just pick one sub for free... Go figure! Hamit was useful after all...

So if we should meet Real and Altintop was on the pitch... he'd be playing against Lahm and Ribery.

Good luck with that. :D

Just the same way we have a player & staff discussion thread for Kahn, Ballack, van Bommel, etc... he's a former player so he retains the threads he had, all merged into one thread now (this one). Not going to delete the thread and I see no point in locking it either. If people want to discuss his performances for Real Madrid (when he starts playing), I see nothing wrong with that.

Bild is saying Spain media is calling ex FCB dude Hamit Altintop: Altinflop. After learning that recovery from a back surgery will take quite a bit longer than expected Marca among other publications are going nasty with the so called ´Chosen One.´ Marca said the team should have never let in an injured player.

I took the liberty to hyper jump to another forum and check out their comments, here the most notable:

- Another Kaka? At least this one was free...
- I don't even know why did they sign these guy. Another brilliant waste of money.
- Awesome versatile squad player who will alot of depth to our bench!! (I actually liked this one)
- Yeh, we do not have enough depth in our squad yet. We are fúcking signing drop-outs. (well, since Halycon did sort of a spanglish mix here I guess it doesn´t qualify as English swearing...)
- Faubert 2.0
- such a contract I would also sit out there and say I was in real

I think there is one inevitable conclusion from today´s exercise: English is dead on some of these forums...
