Best of luck Diego if and wherever you go.

This means we need cover for Alaba.

It would be an expected move... But we'd need to replace him...

At this young age it's better for him to switch teams already. I wish him the best of luck in case he actually wants to leave.

Personally I always hate to see players from our youth academy leave us. I think Contento doesn't get enough credit sometimes, and when he plays he does quite a decent job but like most players has an off day once in a while (I don't think the last match was enough to condemn him considering he's gotten in some good games at other points of the season). I also understand if he wants to find somewhere where he can get more playing time, but I do hope he stays.

To be honest it's not just that. Contento is the ONLY professional player at Bayern (don't know if there are also reserves or youths) who has only ever played for Bayern. Every other player has played elsewhere prior to joining Bayern.

Agreed. I suppose my point was mainly that I like to see our youths (especially Bavarian, though I do feel similarly about Kroos or Alaba for example) become a solid mainstay in the club. That we have a solid base of loyal and talented players that we produced ourselves rather than depending on the transfer market only. When our academy began producing more consistently these sorts of youths with Schweini and Lahm and then carrying on that tradition with Müller, Badstuber, Contento that's really a trend I would love to us continue. So for me to sell Contento would really be a tragedy. As you say he's one of our most loyal players and longest standing players, so to me he should remain with us. It is something that I sometimes do worry about the club, and I never want our success to mean we lose our sense of loyalty to homegrown or longstanding players.

He is a decent player and deserves to play as a regular. I hate to see him leave but he has waited too long.

I have always seen Contento as a good backup and am happy that he has stayed for so long, but he is bound to leave sooner rather than later.

That said, this season his performances have been a bit disappointing: not as good as they used to be.

This is very bad cause we might have a player less to rest...

More information has come out on Contento's injury. He has suffered lateral ligament damage in his left ankle. He will get a special shoe and tape bandage and be back in running training on Monday. [source]
