I think that Alaba is now officially a LB , not A CM or LM

Don't even bother calling: Bayern's Rummenigge ends Barcelona's interest in Alaba
The Austria international has impressed for the Bavarians this season and has been linked with a switch to Camp Nou; the Allianz Arena outfit are unwilling to consider the option

Despite breaking into Bayern's first team squad as a left back, Alaba will continue occupying a midfield role with the Austrian national team, at least for the time being.

Mostly because Austria have a fine leftback in Fuchs. If you have only so many good players, you need to make room for them.

Its great that we do have a player that wants to play for Bayern -- a good loyal player -- I wish we had several more players like him!!

Gotta love the kid. Seriously, he already seems to be a Bayern favorite, and he's 19!

He's an impressive player, I've loved him since last summer and am glad he managed to break into the first team. I think he won a lot of sympathy quickly with Bayern fans because he's impressed in LB. We've been looking for a new "Lahm" on the other side for years now.

I'm not exaggerating if I say that he'll be better than Lahm !!
This kid has got something unique that made him the youngest ever to become a FCB pro ... the youngest ever to play for the Austrian national team ... the youngest to play UCL and more about this so called " the youngest ever " ...
I can't figure out what this "unique" thing is? perhaps strong mentality , passion , Technique or versatility !!! I just don't know !! May be because I'm a big fan of him !! =D>

It depends on whether he remains a full-back for the rest of his career, I think. But yeah, he's got loads of potential. It's hard to predict what he will (or won't) achieve.

Its nice to have a versatile player -- basically anywhere on the left side -- LW/LM/LB -- somewhat a utility type player.

I really would prefer if he stops being used in midfield or even ribery's position. He's not skilled and fast enough to become a top LW but has the perfect skillset to become world's best LB. bayern should just focus on that position for him
