Despite his drop in form after the treble, I still think it was a mistake to let him go. He played a key part in that season and had no problem staying in the bench and help whenever called upon. So, we offloaded him for an amount that we really aren't desperate for. We didn't replace him, instead we have a very fragile situation, injury prone back line, with no bench. So, is it just me that don't get it, or am I missing smth here? We will get raped later on in the CL, looks like a very familiar situation. So, now we hope no cards and no injuries. excellent..

I dunno, it sounds like Dante wasn't willing to be that bench player anymore. And anyways, it got to the point where I honestly felt more comfortable with Alaba and Rafinha covering the CB sub spots, and that says quite a lot about Dantes recent performances.

Yeah, maybe but competing in all fronts with no bench is not the best idea.

The simple issue is that, in Pep's preferred system, there might be room for only one centerback anyway. I wouldn't really call those wide centerbacks of his by the name, for one. After seeing Alaba's bombing runs through midfield, I can accept the notion of selling Dante, because frankly, he isn't nowhere near to coping with the style of play demanded of him.

I can agree with all that - but why Wolfsburg?! That is (minor) Meisterschaft competition! Rather sell him to Gladbach or wherever...!

Maybe it was his wish to go there! Maybe he wanted to be reunited with his exbayern and Brazilean teammate, Gustavo? Remember, we always go out of our way to let players go to their preferred destinations.

We must win the Meisterschale by all means available. Even strengthening Stuttgart is verboten.

Oh dear, Pepe Reina and Pizarro left. Now Dante. They were arguably the most likeable guys (I think) in the dressing room. Hopefully Rafinha wont be on his way out next year.

He's only a phone call away, and we still get to play them at least 2 matches a year.

Poor guy. At least once he was on the right side of the beating: 7-1 against Roma

In fact he wasn't as poor yesterday as one would think. Like in the 7-1, he was mostly let down by his brazilian comrades around him - Gustavo and especially Naldo, who had a complete shocker (look at Lewa's second goal, Naldo just completely gives up trying to at least force him into an error or something). It could've been even worse if Ricardo Rodriguez was a talentless hack like Marcelo. And his first half was great - after one particular encounter with Müller I imagined Dante giving him quite a bit of payback as Müller was shockingly useless up front thanks to him.
