Daniel Van Buyten Pens New Bayern Munich Deal

German giants Bayern Munich and Belgian defender Daniel van Buyten have successfully completed contract negotiations. The centre-back has signed a new contract until 2012 at the Bundesliga outfit.

The former Olympique Marseille defender's previous contract was due to expire at the end of the season and Van Buyten was being linked with a move to Lazio in the past couple of weeks.

"We have a great team with a very good and smart coach. I'm very happy at Bayern and I'm absolutely delighted with this contract extension," said Van Buyten on the official Bayern website.

The 32-year-old defender joined Bayern from Hamburger SV in the summer of 2006 and has since made 88 Bundesliga appearances for FCB. He hasn't missed a single league match so far this term and has already scored five goals.

I am very happy that Bayern gave DvB an extension. He is having a career year with the club and is certainly deserving. In the same press release it said both Muller and Badstuber extended as well! What a great start to handling expiring contracts.

Bayern Munich Can ‘Definitely’ Keep Franck Ribery – Daniel Van Buyten

http://goal.com/en/news/15/germany/2010 ... daniel-van

This is so good news that we extended with DVB not only because he is great this season in defence as in attack scoring goals but the fact that he is best player of Ribery.

He said in the interview all the things I wanted to hear and I am now 110% that Ribery will extend his contract!
Those two are like brothers and they are always hanging out together and because of that Ribery will stay at our club where everyone loves him and he has a good time.

in 2012 , he will be 34 , so i think that he goes to Qatar or UAE and palys there 2 more years FOR LOTS AND LOTS OF cash then retires

(Gulf clubs pay salaries like Bayern munich or even more , trust me with that , A Kuwaiti club offered zidane 1 million to play 3 games !!!!)

That seems to be the best way for a player to retire! :)

Well, it depends whether DVB would want to retire in his home country, or whether he wants to stay with Bayern. It's his choice really.

Daniel van Buyten

Postby tappinho » Sun Mar 21, 2010 12:56 pm

Van Gaal said: "We’ve lost another centre-half in Van Buyten, so it’s getting more and more difficult"...

He got a knock in his face: any news about his injury? Do we have to expect a defensive masked duo??
Still missing my dear Deisler...
