Re: Daniel Van Buyten

Following Saturday's 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge slammed centre-half Daniel van Buyten for his careless errors.

"It's not acceptable for Daniel to make these mistakes at this level - you pay for them," he said according to the AFP.

Van Buyten missed a clearance that allowed Theofanis Gekas a shot on an open goal, and was also guilty of allowing the Greek striker too much space as he levelled the score at 1-1. The Belgian was promptly substituted at half-time, after which time Frankfurt showed few signs of life going forward.

Bayern coach Louis van Gaal was more forgiving of the centre-half: "Everyone makes mistakes, including Daniel; life goes on," he said.

Sporting director Christian Nerlinger echoed Van Gaal's sentiments: "Of course there were too many individual mistakes, but in the centre of defence, I do not see a big problem."

When asked whether Van Buyten would be replaced, he said: "I do not think so."

The opinions of Nerlinger and Van Gaal will not resonate well with Breno and Holger Badstuber, who have played very well this year. The latter is expected to be fit to return to action next week, meaning that he and the Brazilian will likely be in direct competition for a starting berth.

The most laughing comes from the attackers of the opponent team :P
