To be fair Javi has been brilliant... but playing the duo doesn't mean dropping him when Alonso is starting.

Javi has been good, but Boateng is still a much better defender tbh...he's just coming back from an injury and shouldn't be missing entire games now. That is if Carlo's intention is to get him back to his best ASAP. And right now it doesn't look like it, it looks like he's quite happy playing Javi and Hummels. But then again Carlo actually sees the players during training so he probably knows more than I do :P

"Der FC Bayern spielt zu langsam" [source]

Column from SPORT1 expert Armin Veh

"Bayern play too slow"

SPORT1 expert Armin Veh says that Bayern lack the pace on the outside.

Bayern left behind a winless week in the Champions League and Bundesliga, what has not happened for an eternity.

In my opinion, they have not played the best football in the years under Pep Guardiola, but under Jupp Heynckes, as they won the treble.

Currently the players just act a little tired. Maybe it's the fact that they won the championship four times in a row. Since it can happen to lack a few percentages in the end.

They lack the crucial element - the pace, especially on the outside. Franck Ribery is the only one who is really fit, but also someone who can not make it every game.

Furthermore, Arjen Robben was injured, Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman were also injured. When you walk into situations where the enemy plays deep, it is difficult - even for FC Bayern.

In recent years under Guardiola there were also such phases as now, when a similar football was played. One should wait and see the rest of the season first.

Criticism for the rotation - Bayern have indeed rotated seven against Cologne - I can not understand that way. Each team playing in Europe does that.

My only hope is: that we do the opposite of what we did in the last three years. We peak when it matters most... From Feb to May

Hey guys, we're all at fault (myself first) for this but now that last week's over let's forget all this and get back on topic. This thread should be for Ancelotti news and interviews, otherwise it risks becoming the battleground that the Guardiola thread was. Let's keep tactics to the tactics to thread, match comments to the match threads, etc.

Nice to see us first but the other teams don't make much sense

Alright, what happened to us this season so far?
Carletto has adopted a more direct style of play, and established a consistent team sheet (4-3-3).
But we are far from our best this season..
Under Carlo, some important players started to underperform: Muller is a clear example, Coman, Vidal is not playing his best too.. (Sanches?)
Anyway, the team is playing poor so far, I dont remember a game we played beautifull football this season..

And i'm worried about the style we're playing: Crosses in the area, that dont result in nothing in majority of the cases,
And a lot of missed chances: like +25 kicks and 1 goal against Koln
May Bayern rule the world again!

A bit OT but I always impressed by Simeone's square shape pressing.
I am not a tactical genius but I noticed that he creates squares all over the pitch with his 4-4-2

square 1. the to CF with the two CM
Square 2. RF RM RCM RB and vice versa on the other side
Square 3. RB RCB RM RCM and vice versa
Square 4. the two CB + the two CM

That's exactly the problem I talk about there :

Coman wrote:Ancelotti wants full-back who attacks, this is great ... but when both attacks, thats mean our midfielder have to cover them and playe deeper.

This is something I saw many many time this season :

Yes the middle is empty and our attacking players have to playe deeper.. then : no danger.

While with only ONE change (Costa instead of Alonso) and only one full-back who attacks at the time, all can change :

This is Ancelotti role to correct that.

Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has leapt to the defence of his former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, calling him the "most complete" defender. [source]

 what a joke Ancelotti. Now working with Hummels and Boateng but still praising the "attacker" Ramos

Taking into account "completeness", than I believe Ramos has the edge as his attacking traits are pretty much the best out there for a CB. That doesn't mean he is the best defender (that's Boateng), although he is one of the best.
