Carletto vs Pep: The DMZ thread is now open!

Postby tflags » Tue Sep 20, 2016 10:53 am

From Honigstein:

Bayern, as is their wont, spoilt Cologne’s party with a 3-1 win over Ingolstadt, a regulation result after a highly irregular game. The hosts’ performance was as patchy, uneven, unsightly and full of holes as the Allianz Arena pitch; all in all a chaotic affair with more counterattacks for the opponents than all visiting teams put together had enjoyed under Pep Guardiola.

Franck Ribéry blamed the “strange lawn” on his side’s dishevelled show – TSV 1860’s Bundesliga 2 battles have left their mark – but for the second league game running, Bayern’s defensive organisation was shockingly poor. It’s perhaps beginning to dawn on Guardiola’s critics that the new-found freedom under his successor Carlo Ancelotti might just make the champions a little less invincible – especially, if some key names are missing.

“You can’t always play well,” the Italian said, barely raising his left eyebrow. He’s won all six games so far, so perhaps winning badly could be excused this time. Next up to enjoy the post-Guardiola open space but treacherous ground on Wednesday night are Hertha Berlin, the surprise second-placed side from the capital.

To be fair, the lawn was changed to a hybrid one on request from Pep Guardiola. It was relaid during summer, but in a way this is fuel to Pep haters who can argue that he is to blame for Bayern's performance against Ingolstadt

Anyway, I think the forum is not yet ready for such a thread. I'm keeping my eye on it because I'm expecting I will need to lock it down shortly. Hope to be proven wrong.

It's too early for such conclusions but an interesting take on things.

I think a DMZ thread is always useful. After all, readers and writers have been warned, haven't they?

Don't get it. What is a DMZ thread? Too early to judge Carlo, especially while our whole defense is missing....

l like Carlo but he needs to form a strong midfield trio with certain roles without Alonso. Our midfield has been problematic so far.

I am sure that when Hummels and Boa will meet our midfield will be formed by JM - AV and somebody from TA, Kimmich or RS

One bad performance but a win being 0-1 down from 5' and everybody goes like "we can't play like this" yeah like under Pep we didn't have a bunch of tragic performances but somehow we managed to win, these ugly wins gives you the championship from time to time.

I like Carlo's "power football" we play more direct, we're being sloppy at times especially compared to Guardiola era but this is normal, Guardiola's obsession with accurate passes and motion at offense makes you look very dominant with the ball but it's not like we thrived all season long with that! Now with the Italian despite our main players are sidelined, not ever with full squad we're going 6/6 wins only 1 goal conceded and what I like most that we attack with every possible way: vertical passes, overlaps, shots from distance, crosses, headers everything is at full work, we try everything we have because... we have everything, it's not only about technique.

Either way they are two fantastic coaches, different philosophies and depends on your taste but it's waaay too early to judge Ancelotti's era in this particular moment, he doesn't have all the artillery in his possesion and we haven't played the big guns except S04.
Patience, if we have a full squad we'll get an idea by the winterpause about the new style's potential etc.

Erm... Honigstein...
Memory loss eh? Look at the last games of Gladbach here... Ingolstadt had JUST AS MANY opportunities last season... We were kind of lucky then, we were kind of lucky now... But we came back from being one down - and in both cases luck is a stretch IMHO...

Some people didn't want to judge Pep after a year and that thrashing from RM but then they want to judge Carlo after matchday 3.

I'm not sure if we're ready yet for Atlético, but I hope Carlo reminds them of last year and gets our guys' blood boiling.
