Pirlo taught Vidal how to play football at Juventus, says former Chile boss Borghi.
One of the Bayern Munich man's former coaches believes playing alongside the Italian great in Serie A was crucial for his development

Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal was "taught" how to play football by Andrea Pirlo at Juventus, says former Chile boss Claudio Borghi.
Vidal spent four years playing alongside the Italian maestro in Turin, winning Serie A in every campaign and finishing as a runner-up in the 2014-15 Champions League.
The 30-year-old moved to Bayern for the following campaign but it is Pirlo who Borghi – Vidal's coach at Colo Colo during the early stages of his career – feels is responsible for establishing him as one of the world's top midfielders.

"He is much more mature, he is bigger and has experience," Borghi told La Tercera."In my humble opinion, his great change occurred in Italy, playing for Juve next to Pirlo.

I don't know about that... Pirlo isn't a warrior like our Arturo. The way King fights for every metre, every ball.

It's also worth noting that Chile's press secretary noted that the reports that Vidal called Cristiano a "smart ass" is a translation error and should've been closer to "bogeyman" or calling him someone to be afraid of

It's hard to describe what he actually does for Chile. It just looks like he and Alexis are so far better skilled than everybody else (and everybody knows it) that they are almost playing multiple positions (Alexis often moving up to play CF but at the same time dropping deep and starting play from there), and everyone else is there accompanying them. Chile actually looks like a very well organized team that won't be easy to beat.

Arturo in general seems to be playing more of an AMF, but he's often dropping deep. It is incredible though, how he's literally everywhere...pressing high, dropping and defending deep, starting play from deep, getting on the end of crosses, playing dangerous long distance shots...he's just the absolute total footballer. He's willing to do whatever he has to for the team. I admire his mindset and skills, I really do.

http://diario.elmercurio.com/2017/07/05 ... 5DAC2FE%7D

I don't speak Spanish, but found this summary elsewhere: "Arturo Vidal will say no to any Inter Milan offer out of loyalty to Juventus. Bayern wants to extend his contract from 2019 to 2021, offers him €15m per year, 20% higher than his current contract and around the same that Lewandowski earns. "

My response... no thanks.

My response - glad you aren't on the Bayern board.

Yeah let's add another player whose retirement we make an all expenses paid trip around Europe...
Seriously, you might argue Vidal is not yet declining, and that he wasn't better at Juve (which I wouldn't agree on) - but why make him a top earner now AND keep him two more years, before we can make a better assessment of his "battery"?

Thank you. I can picture it now... in 2021, a 34-year old Vidal is hobbling around the field like Xabi Alonso, and Zozon complains about young players leaving since they don't get playtime
