Zamorano hails Vidal as 'the best defensive midfielder in the world' [source]

The 28-year-old has been a key part of Bayern Munich's ambitions in his first season in Bavaria, prompting his compatriot to declare how impressed he has been.Former Chile international Ivan Zamorano believes Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal is the best in the world in his position.Vidal has established himself as a key figure at Bayern Munich since his move from Juventus last year. The 28-year-old has the chance to clinch a domestic double in his maiden campaign with the Bavarians when they face Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday. He is also expected to be vital to Chile's hopes of retaining their Copa America crown in the summer and ex-Real Madrid and Inter striker Zamorano has lauded his abilities."Vidal is the best defensive midfielder in the world," he told Omnisport."We are very proud of him. What he has done in Europe is extraordinary. He won the Serie A title with Juventus and now the Bundesliga title with Bayern in his first year, it is fantastic."He is the best in the world in his position and you can see it in each game he plays with Bayern and Chile. He has become a leader who somehow defines what a coach wants from a player on the pitch."Hopefully he can keep performing at this level for many more years - that would be very good for our national team."

he's been one of the best midfielders in the world over the past 4 years or so

Juve had something special with him and Pogba to go with Pirlo/Marchisio.... and they probably had a chance to win the CL this year if they kept Vidal and replaced Pirlo with Khedira on top of the other moves they made

he was irreplaceable for them..... and is now irreplaceable for Bayern (amongst the current squad)

I mean if I said pick 1 player you would least want to get hurt and miss 2-3 months on this team, Vidal would probably be #1 on alot of lists

Just a theory : does anyone think Arturo chose to go to Bayern just to be sure he'd get free beer each May? :P

I mean, it must have been frustrating to win the title every year in Italy and not be able to celebrate properly :D
