There are still more to go but if Algeria play Germany they have a score to settle... In 1982 Germany lost to Algeria in the Gr stage and when the 3rd game came by Germany & Austria played for a draw which result sent them both through at the expense of Algeria!

Germany should win but Algeria and their fans will try all sorts of tricks to disrupt them. Time wasting, niggly fouls, faking injury, laser pointer attacks from the crowd. Will be a very frustrating game I think. Algeria do have some quality too and Germany need to be wary, be professional and not get drawn into their disrupting tactics. Hopefully then their superior quality will win in the end

I simply don't understand this Russia... They were really great under Hiddink 2006-2008 period. He was coach of R NT for 4 years. They played awesome, attractive football, typical Dutch hand in Russian game, but the results after Hiddink weren't the same.

Advocaat also followed the same way on Euro 12', but then unexplained last 2 games after great performance against Czech and they were out.

Under Capello and his Italian style the same thing is happening now. Something is missing to Russians. Is it mentality, character? I mean, these guys aren't bad players at all...
But that 'something' what's missing to them makes the team less dangerous and lack of notable results are reality.

I saw a post by Jorge about the goals scored this world cup, listed by clubs, and decided to do a little sleuthing around 8)

Someone on Reddit is updating a table of world cup goals by club (including goal scorer names) and I thought I'd share it with you

Enjoy!

Since there is no WC football today, the BBC in the UK decided to entertain their online readers by running a vote for the best XI of the world cup so far. There was a series of 5-6 votes for the various positions. 3 Bayern players made the team.

i didn't think Vidal played like anything special but other than that I think that list is more or less spot-on (James Rodriguez is a mid right? He is miles better than Vidal so far). Benzema and Neymar get my honorable mentions at forward
