To be fair, Messi only scored one more goal.

Thomas Mueller scored in one match same as both Messi and Rooney in 5 world cups total

Where did you get the 5 from?

Bringing out Muller in a WC discussion is just plain unpolite. Its like "discussion is over folks."

Mario Gomez never scored in a World Cup either :( Though to be fair he only had around an hour of playing time, split over four matches. This was supposed to be his World Cup with Klose mostly out of the way and him having supposedly having had a great season in Italy. But it was not to be.

Well, he didn't have an opportunity in the past. Not in 2006, not in 2010. It's just, injuries come in the wrong time for Gomez. He would do it in 2014 like he did it on Euro 12', no doubt.

That's what I call misfortune. Definitely no. 1 striker on this tournament that he didn't have problem with injury.

But Gomez is a great person, he won't cry if Germany win World Cup. National team and success above everything.
