Wales forward Gareth Bale started it all off last week, calling England the "enemy" and saying his team has "got a lot more passion and pride about us than them."

"They big themselves up before they've done anything," Bale said. [source]

Here's an idea - if, considering various political upheavals of the 20th century, Austria managed to stay attached to Germany, what would that team look like right now? I'm betting Alaba and Fuchs would walk into the current German side. If only Austria also had a top-quality rightback as well... But the idea of an Alaba-Schweini-Özil midfield really intrigues me for some reason.

Arnautovic was superb in that counter-attack! Not only able to play that gorgeous flick (which he's always been good on) he also made the correct decision to pass to Harnik at the far post instead of the difficult chance closer to him. Not his fault Harnik can't hit the ball worth a crap.

Fuchs? Sorry, no ;)

Alaba? Would suit us extremely well - wouldn't play in midfield though...

Fuchs wouldn't walk into the Germany team. That can only be said about certain sensational players like Neuer, Boateng, Lahm, Özil and Müller. I certainly doubt that Fuchs has their impact.
And I wouldn't pick Alaba in the midfield either. I think that the current midfielders are better at doing that job than Alaba is.

Alaba aside (although I very much disagree), do you sincerely believe Jonas Hector to be a better fullback than Fuchs?

This joke falls flat as, according to the commentary on English TV earlier, they still had separate football teams while it was Austria-Hungary

I can't understand if Portugal is so good offensively or the Iceland has so so bad defenders and an invisible DMF! Portugal makes it look so easy when they find space in 3secs the ball is in the box ready to nail it into the net!

Austria's performance(and result) was shockingly bad, if Alaba's rocket went in it would be another game but it didn't after that only Junuzovic had a shot and a decent performance along with Alaba. Overall though looked like the weakest team along with N.Ireland but from the N.Ireland was expected from Austria who thrived at the qualifications a defeat against Hungary was shocking.
