FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

Postby ramsej84 » Sat Jul 25, 2015 6:42 pm

Uefa ones : Wow ... I wished for England and my wish came true :) I am sure that my country can do well especially at home... and it will be very interesting as they have a big following here...
the rest of the teams in our group are : Slovakkia , Scotland (hmm Eng vs Sco) Slovenia and Lithuania. I think we have members from all these countries :)
Germany shall not find any difficulties although the Czechs always give Ger some hard time...
Italy were drawn with Spain...
While Gr A is the one which may be considered as the toughest one with Nederland France Sweden and Bulgaria

I find it real interesting and attractive only in group A, D and I. These qualifications used to be more attractive and interesting some 10-15 years ago unlike these one.

Many teams which are considered as favorites will most likely qualify or end it on play-off position. I don't expect huge surprises.

we already had a nice taste last Thu as my local team beat West Ham 1-0 ... and went on till the penalties to which we lost 3-5
Still it was a legendary result for us... beating a team from the PL and were better than they were for long stretches . TBH at home I don't fear neither the Scots (to whom I have a very big respect) the only drawback is their physical play cause I am 99 % sure that our lads are both technically and tactically more gifted.

Yes lots of British ex pats in Malta plus the hoards that travel to watch England and Scotland away from home should make for two interesting matches over there. Not to mention a cracking atmosphere

I'm delighted that Germany and Northern Ireland are in the same group. I'd hope to get to the Northern Ireland v Germany match when it is played in Belfast. I read somewhere that, although the first matches in each group won't be played for another year, all the fixture dates were defined yesterday too. Can anyone point me to a link for that information? Thanks in advance.

[Edit: All the fixtures are now listed on Kicker - or at least on Kicker's iPhone app. For the record, Northern Ireland v Germany is the second last group game each will be playing, and it takes place on 05 Oct 2017. See you there! :-) ]

Group I. Our NT seem to be doomed once again. It's hard to stay positive when we don't even have a new coach yet. :?

We won't be able to play our first group match against Turkey in front of our fans. Just too bad. The first group match is just something what it must be supported by fans and not once more in the pure silence where only 2 teams, their coaching stuff and FA members together with journalists will be only voices to hear.

Might switch it on but I'll be focusing on Germany since I'll be betting on them. :P
