Conembol table is on fire! Just four points between six teams. Argentina are in real danger of missing out on the Top 5 finish.

Players with the most assists in UEFA qualifying:

This bodes well for the future of Bayern's right flank.

Argentina can still qualify directly ... if not they will surely reach the play offs.

I can see a patter here :

1990 final Ger v Arg with the SAM ending as runners up
Qualifications for the 94 edition : Argentina qualify thanks to a play off vs Australia -
Brazil winners of the final in the US

2014 final Ger v Arg with the SAM ending as runners up
Qual for the 2018 edition : there is a big chance that Arg re qualify in the same fashion
Brazil ????

The table in South America is interesting before the last round of games. Brazil and Urugay are through but 5 teams are fighting for 2 direct spots and 1 play-off spot I think.

Argentina pretty much just needs to win their game to have secured play-offs and maybe will be enough for a direct spot.
Chile is playing Brazil away and if they don't get a point there they might actually be out of the World Cup believe it or not.

Going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Past is irrelevant.

No offense but with some of your posts (About jinxes and stuff) you sometimes come across as very superstitious and at times sound like an Astrologer. :?

Easier said than done. Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela have high altitude stadiums and playing there can be a real challenge.

Don’t think this is the place for life counseling lessons but here’s my two cents.

It’s not a very good attribute though. (Being superstitious and close minded) my mother is somewhat like this and I don’t like that about her whatsoever. The past has no bearing on the future (unless in some rare cases, for instance past abuse can make a person a bitter human) and if nothing else, we gotta learn from the past, instead of expecting history to repeat itself. There is no reliable way to predict the future based on certain past events (in this case something that happened more than 20 years ago)

Anyway metaphysics aside

Back to football. I really don’t care about South America honestly. I’ll always root for a European team over South American ones. If not Germany then I’ll even throw my weight behind France and Spain (two national teams I can’t stand) if they are up against a Conembol team. I’m pro Europa.

but rarely root for Italy Spain France or England... and Portugal...

for eg if Argentina play all the above I root for the Albeceleste
if on the other hand it is Brazil I think I root for Brazil

Something about South America ticks me off. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have a great time on my couple of trips there.

Thug culture, Deferrence to the mafia/gangs, Extreme corruption, poor attitude of people in general.. but that’s another topic for another day.

I sometimes am okay with Italy and Portugal (supported both of them against the French in 2006 and 2016) but for some reason I just cannot stand France and Spain (despite that I’ll still support them if they’re up against a Conembol team)

England are a joke let’s not even bring them up.
