A lot has been said about the Bayern support vs Chelsea support.

One factor that could have caused this (or you can see it as a reward) was that all 13 goals were scored right in front of the Schickeria side.

Badger wrote:All said, when I look at the number of goals scored against Bayern and the number of chances wasted by Bayern, then, excluding the early season Dortmund game which distorts the picture, I would regard Bayern's finishing as a bigger problem than the defence. The defence and midfield needs to master 4-1-4-1 and individuals need to improve their concentration, but the offence needs to improve their shots-to-goals ratio, to make the whole thing work as it should.

This is a magnificent post! It easy to blame Pep's defensive system because Bayern are conceding but if you watch Bayern's games so far this season you wonder how those games didnt finish 4 or 5 goals in favor of Bayern. Bayern's defensive woes would have been easily forgotten if they converted at least 40% of the chances they created. Its hard to say Bayern need changes to their offense when players like Kroos, Muller, Schweinstiger, Ribery, and Robben are all on the pitch but its clear something needs to be done. To many times players are either missing hitting balls, poor first touch, or just lacking movement around the final third. Sometimes i feel like players are trying to go for the spectacular goals. Even some of Bayern's more industrial players like Muller and Mandzukic seem to be going for the spectacular. Maybe a guy like Gomez would have benefited Bayern in the final third. I must admit Bayern dont look as solid as they did last year but you must remember that year was an anomaly at beast. Only conceding 21 goals in all competitions is not something even the best teams can do consistently. Im glad to see most people on this forum seem very relaxed by Pep's changes as they are smart enough yi see this Bayern side is just as good as any team in Europe =D>

Im seeing flashes of 2011/12 here, leaky-ish defense and not prolific strikeforce. Both defense and offense must improve. But there is still time, lots of time.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness and chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have slammed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in the wake of the Portuguese's comments about the referee during last week's Uefa Super Cup encounter.

Mourinho was quick to blame the official in charge for his side's defeat, Jonas Eriksson, whom he felt was wrong to dismiss Chelsea midfielder Ramires for a second yellow card folllowing a challenge on Mario Gotze.

Rummenigge, though, has stressed that the Brazilian's sending off was fully deserved and has hit out at Mourinho for his poor judgement of the situation.

"I thought Mourinho's statement was outrageous," Rummenigge told Bild.

"After a horrible tackle like this, Mario can consider himself lucky. The injury could have been much worse."

Hoeness, meanwhile, was equally surprised with Mourinho's criticism of the referee.

"That was the clearest red card ever," the Bayern president said.

"If a coach like Mourinho then starts talking about a wrong decision, I ask myself if he maybe attended the wrong game."

The Bundesliga representatives won 5-4 on penalties (2-2 AET) on Friday.

Meanwhile, Gotze will be out of action for at least three weeks because of the injury he sustained following Ramires' tackle. [source]

I think Chelsea is the best PK taking team in the world. Most of their other shots are almost impossible to save. Our PKs are good in general, but would be entirely "saveable" if the opposing keeper jumps in the right direction.

Exactly
David Luiz and Ashley Cole penalties are usually very powerful and up high so even if the goalie jumps to the correct side ,he wont be able to save it

I would argue that. While the power of the kick matters, it's still mostly down to the placement. Power shots can as easily be pushed away as the placed kick if a GK guesses right. It's all down GK's reflexes. He has to time his jump in both cases.

Lampard, Cole and Mata are good. Oscar is brilliant. Top end corner placement is the best you can aim. Luiz is all power, pretty easy to stop if GK guesses it right.
Now ours. Schweini is good but like Lampard aims for usually left, right and below the center of the net. I've hardly seen any of them aim higher. Lahm usually goes for just above the center. Gomez used to keep it low. Kroos just rolls it over, nervously, instead when the ball should be on fire with his 'trademark' kick. Alaba has got all pace, power and placement. Mueller is a mix between Kroos and Gomez.

To be true, someone with Oscar's technique would a welcome addition. The top end corners is the place to aim.

Come on! David Luiz's penalty is the "perfect" shot. No way in hell a keeper can keep that out.

IMHO, that is where you are wrong. Oscar's was the perfect. Even if GK guesses it right, it'd have been out of reach because of the angle.
Luiz's was stoppable if guessed right.
One more thing, Luiz's are the kind of shots that fly Ramos style.

This was the PK Alaba took for Austria this week:

I have alwasy preferred players to hit it high and powerful like Lampard usually does but sometimes it cal lead to a Ramos like PK if you do it wrong.....
