:( I can't remember any German youth team performing this badly since 2000.

Uhh... actually Germany did very well

They won all matches except 3:
- 2 losses against Holland who are just superior to everyone else
- 1 draw against the Czech Republic, which was very unlucky (Germany missed a lot of chances including 2 penalties)

Just because one other team proved superior doesn't mean that Germany performed badly. Performing badly would be like Spain and Italy who failed to even qualify.

Well, yes. But losing 5-2 always makes you overlook everything else that was good in the tournament. Although Yesil was one extremely bright spot.

That's one way of looking at it.
Another way of looking at it is that Holland had previously let in only 2 goals in 10 matches (one of which was scored by Bayern's very own Derflinger), and Germany managed to score 2 goals against them in one match.
Holland's second goal should never have been allowed, and had it not been who knows what might have happened?

Assuming I saw correctly from my web stream (which is a heavy assumption, you know how streams are...), the ball was between the turf and one of Germany's goalkeeper's hands. The attacker kicked it out of his grasp and finished off the ball. The commentator said something about the keeper needing to hold it with both hands, but I don't think that's the way the rules are...

I don't know if anyone can verify what I just wrote here.

Well I doubt you'd be forbidden to kick the ball when the keeper has just one hand on the ball, because you know, then the rules would mean complete immunity for the keeper if he even touches the ball, which doesn't make sense.

When keepers throw the ball with their hands, they do so with one hand. Are you implying that whilst he's standing up and holding the ball in one hand you can walk over and kick/head it out of his hand? I don't think so...

I remember Luca Toni having a goal disallowed when he was behind the keeper who tried to kick the ball away and between the time the keeper dropped the ball to kick it, Toni sneaked in and shot it into the goal. That goal was disallowed, and I read the rules back then and verified that the referee was right to rule it out.

I've found the video of the incident of Luca Toni as well...

I've found more info about the rules thanks to an old post by Jorge.
