Ulreich on the ball - Lewandowski ups his workload

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Jan 04, 2018 11:05 am

Day three at the FC Bayern winter training camp in Doha and coach Jupp Heynckes again does not have his full squad available for the morning session on Thursday. Right back Joshua Kimmich has a slight cold and is sidelined as a precaution.

Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, who sprained the middle finger of his right hand yesterday, did complete most of the training session but did not take part in goalkeeping drills or the practice match at the end. The 29-year-old will return to full training when the swelling on his bruised finger has gone down.

Robert Lewandowski did initially join in with the training session. The striker, who has a problem with his knee, took part in the warm-up routine with his team-mates but then worked on his own doing runs on a neighbouring pitch. Due to a groin problem, Mats Hummels was only able to do some light running.

So he moved to a warmer climate and got a cold? What did he do, set his hotel room a/c to extreme cold?

My worst ever cold was in South of France, 32° to 37° for weeks.
4-3-3 : Neuer - Kimmich Boateng Hummels Alaba - Goretzka Thiago James - Robben Lewandowski Gnabry
3-5-2 : Neuer - Boateng Hummels Alaba - Thiago - Kimmich Goretzka James Coman - Müller Lewandowski

A cold doesn't depend on the climate. It's a virus. I hated it when people told me you are not wearing enough clothes or wear the hood when going outside from inside a warm place or you'll catch a cold. Baah! Nonsense!

A change in temperature from warm to cold reduces the immunity system which makes it much more likely to catch a cold.

You can still get a cold with a healthy immune system. I haven't a cold in years but I remember having a number of colds in the summer. And Kimmich changed from a cold climate to a warm climate.

That is correct.

MaCk0y wrote:I haven't a cold in years but I remember having a number of colds in the summer.

That may also be correct (you know best), but the peak season for colds is when the temperature changes from warm to cold.

The problem is not changing from cold to warm, it's vice versa. Read this article from yesterday. There are concerns that when Bayern players go back to Munich from Doha the players could suffer colds, and it's a fitness expert professor saying it not me ;)
