Tolisso: I want responsibility

Postby FCBayernNews » Wed Jul 26, 2017 11:25 am

Not very long ago, Corentin Tolisso made a brave decision and opted to enter a whole new world. After a decade with his home club Olympique Lyon the 22-year-old joined FC Bayern and moved to Munich this summer. “I had the feeling the time had come to take the next step,” the France international explained.

“The first few weeks have been super and I feel very settled,” the midfielder continued. His early performances in summer friendlies have confirmed that assessment. Tolisso is patently enjoying his football in a red shirt, with one move against Chelsea on Tuesday providing convincing proof.

Always committed

In the 57th minute the ball was played to him on the edge of his own penalty area. His first touch was exquisite, allowing him to spin and accelerate away from not one but two opponents. Nor were they just any old opposing players: the men in question were fellow France international N’Golo Kante and Spanish World Cup winner Cesc Fabregas.

Tolisso proverbially covered every blade of grass in the win over the English champions. He pulled the strings in front of the defence, hurled himself unflinchingly into tackles, charged forward to support his team’s attacking moves and kept looking for routes into the box. “I never ease back and always give everything for the team and the fans. That’s the way I am,” he explained.

The newcomer has character in abundance, so it is no surprise that he is more than willing to accept responsibility. “That’s the reason I’m determined to learn German,” he declared. The new world Tolisso currently inhabits seems destined to become his home from home very soon indeed.

This article made me think about something... Bayern started a new trend of buying players very early in the transfer market. This makes extra sense for foreigners who don't know German. The earlier they know they're going to be playing for Bayern the earlier they can start learning German. Unfortunately Tolisso and James weren't signed too early while our first transfers were German players so we failed to make the most of this.
