Müller: 'I have a good body'

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Nov 30, 2017 4:00 pm

Thomas Müller sat opposite the assembled press with a broad grin on Thursday. After a five-week absence due to injury, the attacker is finally available again for this weekend. “Everything feels very good and so I’m raring to go. I’m ready in any case,” said the 28 year-old, looking forward to the home match against Hannover 96.

It’s been a tough few weeks of rehabilitation and individual training for Müller. “It’s been a difficult time,” reflected the World Cup winner, who suffered a muscle tear during the game against Hamburg. It’s been particularly tough as he’s missed “some crackers” in recent weeks. “When I think of the cup game at Leipzig or the match at Celtic, I would’ve really liked to have been involved in them.”

No risks taken

It’s the first time in his career that he has missed a substantial number of games through injury. “I have a good body that’s not very prone to injury. I try to foresee risks and dangers in the way I play,” explained Müller, who’s not complaining about the situation.

“That’s just the way it is. I always confront the challenges that life presents and this injury has been one of them,” said the Bavarian, who’s “pleased” with how his rehabilitation has gone. He’s worked in a targeted way with the physios and given himself time. “We erred on the side of caution. At a different stage of the season, we would’ve maybe risked it more,” recalled Müller.

Ready for the final stretch of the year

For that reason Müller has been following a managed training programme this week, and ended today’s session before the press conference slightly earlier. “I really trained at full pelt on Tuesday and Wednesday and we’d set Thursday as the day when I could take it a bit easier. I don’t need to train fully for five days before my first game back and then go into it tired,” he said.

He now feels well prepared for a hectic schedule in which Bayern play six games in the space of three weeks before Christmas. “It’s going to be demanding. We need to pick up points in every game so we can give ourselves a nice Christmas,” demanded Müller.
