Lewandowski sets Bundesliga record

Postby FCBayernNews » Sun Mar 11, 2018 2:50 pm

This man is so resolute that even a missed penalty doesn't put him off. On the contrary: When referee Christian Dingert pointed to the spot for a second time in the game against Hamburg (6-0), Robert Lewandowski grabbed the ball, stepped up and scored his third goal of the afternoon. This hat-trick marks a milestone for the Poland international. fcbayern.com have gathered some stats and facts on the striker.

Robert Lewandowski in numbers

17 – Lewandowski has converted that many penalties in succession to draw level with the Bundesliga record set by Hans-Jörg Butt. The Pole missed the opportunity to set a new record by failing to convert a penalty on 86 minutes but he was undaunted as he stepped up to score from the spot four minutes later.

23 – The number of goals scored by Lewandowski in the Bundesliga this term. The Pole is miles ahead in the goalscorer's list: In second place is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (13 goals)who is no longer in the race to be top scorer since his move to Arsenal.

46 – Lewandowski scored more than one goal in a Bundesliga game for the 46th time and is now third in that ranking behind Gerd Müller (87) and his coach Jupp Heynckes (51).

64 – With his 64th Bundesliga goal at the Allianz Arena, he now heads the rankings ahead of Arjen Robben (62 goals) who also scored on Saturday.

100 – Lewandowski scored his Bundesliga goals 98, 99 and 100 for FC Bayern against Hamburg. For the record champions he is behind Gerd Müller (365), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (162), Roland Wohlfarth (119), Dieter Hoeneß (102) and Thomas Müller (102).

120 – Lewandowski only needed 120 games to reach his century and that is a new Bundesliga record. The previous record holder was Dieter Müller who scored 100 goals for FC Köln in 127 games. Gerd Müller only netted his 100th goal in the Bundesliga for FC Bayern in his 136th game.

142 – With his goals against HSV, Lewandowski moved up to sixth place in the ranking of top FC Bayern goalscorers in competitive matches. That means he overtakes Giovane Elber on 140 goals.

174 – In the Bundesliga, Lewandowski is in tenth place in the all-time goalscorers list with 174 goals. The Pole is just three short of pulling level with two other players: Klaus Allofs and Dieter Müller are in eighth place. Stefan Kuntz (179) and Ulf Kirsten (181) are also within reach this season.
