Lewandowski: It's not too bad

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Apr 08, 2017 9:10 pm

Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, but had to leave the pitch a few minutes after netminder Roman Bürki upended the Pole, who took a knock to his shoulder following the tackle. He obviously felt pain in his right shoulder.

"Lewy sustained a bruise, but the medical unit says it's no problem with regard to Wednesday," Carlo Ancelotti commented, sounding the all-clear after the match. The striker will be available for selection in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Lewy tops the scorer rankings

"It's not too bad. I didn't want to take any risks, and I'll prepare well for Wednesday," an optimistic Lewandowski explained after the final whistle, checking off a painful evening: before bruising his shoulder the Pole sustained a bleeding nose and a knock to his shin.

On a more positive note, the 28-year-old took his tally to 26 league goals this term and set a new record on Saturday. Scoring two goals, Lewandowski now tops the scorer rankings, one clear of Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (25), who failed to score on Saturday. Not only has Lewy has scored 19 goals in the last 16 Bundesliga matches, he has also found the net in seven consecutive home matches, a new record at the Allianz Arena. Lewandowski might extend his record against Real on Wednesday.
