Leverkusen "full of confidence"

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Jan 11, 2018 3:25 pm

Unbeaten since September, just three defeats in their last 17 and unbeaten at home this season – Bayer Leverkusen have good reasons to be “full of confidence” ahead of the resumption of Bundesliga action against Bayern on Friday night, according to coach Heiko Herrlich. “Bayern are a top team, but we don’t need to hide, especially here in front of our own fans,” added winger Leon Bailey, who is expecting “an open game.”

The fourth-placed Werkself are also taking confidence from the previous meeting where they caused Bayern a number of problems with plenty of efforts on goal despite going on to lose 3-1. “We weren’t at the races for the first 20, 30 minutes,” recalls Herrlich. “We showed them too much respect.” However, they do not want to do that on Friday evening.

“Charge out of the blocks,” is what Herrlich is expecting from his team in front of a sold-out BayArena. And his team is also boosted by a clean bill of health, which will add further to the confidence of the Werkself. “We’re playing against a really strong team. The worst-case scenario is a thrashing, the best outcome is you win,” Herrlich added.
