Kimmich scores for Germany

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Jun 06, 2017 11:00 pm

Germany had to thank Joshua Kimmich for scoring the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Denmark on Tuesday evening. The only Bayern pro in Joachim Löw's team levelled the scores with a sumptuous scissor-kick in the closing stages after Denmark's Christian Eriksen had opened the scoring in the first half.

Kimmich turned in a strong display over 90 minutes, working tirelessly up and down the right. Julian Draxler deputised as captain as Löw had to make do without a number of players like Manuel Neuer. Niklas Süle and Sebastian Rudy, who will join FC Bayern this summer, made the starting line-up.

Eriksen scored the opener early into the high-octane encounter in Copenhagen, unleashing an 18-yarder to make the most of a mix-up in the Germany box. Both teams had numerous presentable chances, but it was only after 87 minutes that the visitors levelled the scores. Kimmich's acrobatic scissor-kick meant the friendly ended in a stalemate.

Kimmich & Co next take on San Marino in a World Cup qualifier in Nuremberg on Saturday at 20.45 CET before heading to Russia, where the world champions encounter Australia on 19 June, Chile on 22 June and Cameroon on 25 June in the Confederations Cup.
