Heynckes: It was a solid team performance

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Feb 06, 2018 10:00 pm

FC Bayern advanced to the DFB Cup semi-finals, beating third division league leaders SC Paderborn 6-0 on Tuesday evening. "Of course we're pleased. We put up with the condition of the pitch, set up very good passing combinations and scored wonderful goals despite the difficult conditions," said Jupp Heynckes after the match, speaking of a "solid team performance."

Reaction to Paderborn v Bayern

Jupp Heynckes: "Of course we're pleased. First and foremost we put up with the condition of the pitch, set up very good passing combinations and scored wonderful goals despite the difficult conditions. Paderborn are a really good team, they're on a par with second-division teams."

Joshua Kimmich: "A huge compliment to Paderborn, they played incredibly boldly. They tried to play positive football despite the condition of the pitch. It was hard to keep the ball on the ground. I think both teams turned in a decent display."

Steffen Baumgart (SC Paderborn coach): "We had lots of good moves but that's not enough. You have to score when you're in front of goal, and you mustn't make mistakes at the back. Bayern are able to exploit them ruthlessly, their determination is quite impressive. We tried everything but our opponents were just too strong for us. We have to learn from games like this."

Christian Strohdiek (Paderborn captain): "I'm a bit sad about the result. We planned to put into practice what we've worked on week after week. I think we did a pretty good job. We would have deserved one or two goals today. But if you make so many mistakes in the build-up play Bayern's individual quality is so high that they ruthlessly make the most of it."

Sebastian Schonlau (Paderborn): "The 6-0 scoreline is pretty big of course. Four would have done as well. For all their superiority we wanted to display our qualities. We aren't third division league leaders for no reason, we wanted to make it to the next round. But if Bayern are so strong there's nothing you can do."
