Heynckes' 100% record against Augsburg

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Nov 17, 2017 2:50 pm

On Saturday FC Bayern face FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga for the 13th time, and the current head-to-record looks good for the record champions with 10 wins to just two defeats – and both of them were when FCB had already secured the title. The two sides have also met on three occasions in the DFB Cup, with Bayern winning each of them. fcbayern.com has gathered some other stats on the Bavarian derby.

Perfect records against FCA

Jupp Heynckes has won 20 of his last 21 Bundesliga games, with a 1-1 draw at Dortmund in May 2013 being the only anomaly. Looking at the statistics, it’s unlikely that Augsburg will cause a blot on that record since the FCB coach has triumphed in all five of his previous meetings with the team from Swabia. Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry also have perfect records against FCA with seven wins from seven games.

Impressive run at the Arena

On top of that, Bayern are unbeaten in their last 27 Bundesliga games at the Allianz Arena – their best-ever run since moving to Fröttmaning in 2005. The Reds are closing in on the club’s record unbeaten run of 33 league games which was set at the Olympic Stadium between 2001 and 2003. Even more impressive is the fact that Bayern have scored at least one goal in each of their last 60 competitive games at the Arena. The last time they failed to score in front of their own fans was in May 2015, in a 1-0 loss to Augsburg.

Augsburg in good form on the road

The visitors are enjoying their best ever Bundesliga season at this stage having collected 16 points from the opening 11 Matchdays. They also boast the third-best defence in the league with 11 goals conceded, behind FCB (8) and Schalke 04 (10). Manuel Baum’s side are unbeaten in four away games and have only conceded four goals on their travels this season – the joint-best record along with Frankfurt and Schalke.

Lewandowski’s favourite opponents

Like Bayern, Robert Lewandowski has come up against Augsburg on 12 previous occasions. The Pole has bagged an impressive 16 goals, more than he has against any other Bundesliga club.

Schmidt officiating

Markus Schmidt referees his 15th Bayern game and his 15th at the Allianz Arena. FCB have emerged victorious from 12 of the previous 14, with the other two ending in draws. The 44 year-old from Stuttgart knows Augsburg very well, having been involved in 28 of their games. Greuther Fürth are the only side he has officiated as much. He will be assisted on Saturday by Thorben Siewer and Christoph Günsch, with Martin Petersen as fourth official. Dr. Robert Kampka will be the video assistant.
