In the first round of friendlies in the build up to next summer's World Cup, Germany played out a goalless draw away to old foes England at Wembley. Mats Hummels captained his national team in London and played at the heart of the three-man back line. Joshua Kimmich began on the right of midfield. Sebastian Rudy came on towards the end, with Nikals Süle an unused sub. Jérôme Boateng was with the team in south-east England but was not in the squad due to a muscular injury.

The world champions take on France in Cologne next Tuesday.

Coman and Tolisso win with France

The said French defeated Wales 2-0 in a friendly on Friday evening in Paris. Antoine Griezmann (18) and Olivier Giroud (71) struck for Les Bleus, with starts for central midfielder Corentin Tolisso (until half-time) and Kingsley Coman on the left flank (until the 73rd minute).

Lewandowski rested

Top striker and captain Robert Lewandowski was rested for Poland's goalless draw with Uruguay in Warsaw. The Polish association PZPN has already announced that Lewy will also sit out a friendly meeting with Mexico in Gdansk on Monday.

Narrow defeat for James

In further flung friendly action, James Rodriguez and Colombia fell to a narrow defeat in South Korea. The Cafeteros lost 2-1 in Suwon to the nation that finished fourth in the 2002 World Cup. Former Leverkusen and current Spurs hitman Heung-Min Son grabbed a brace on 11 and 61 minutes, with Cristian Zapata pulling one back for the South Americans 13 minutes from time.
