FC Bayern fans can enjoy top-class football during the winter break when the Reds take part in the 2017 edition of the Telekom Cup in Düsseldorf one week before the Bundesliga restart. Besides the German record champions, Fortuna Düsseldorf, FSV Mainz and Borussia Mönchengladbach will compete for the first trophy of the new year.
The eighth edition of the annual tournament will be staged at Düsseldorf's ESPRIT arena on 14 January 2017. It is the first time that the tournament takes place during the winter preparation period so that the teams have two top-notch dress rehearsals despite the packed schedule before the restart. FC Bayern have won the Telekom Cup two times so far, in 2013 and 2014.
Hosts Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Bayern will contest the opener at 15.00 CET before Mainz and Mönchengladbach face off in the second semi-final at 16.15. The losers meet in the match for third place at 17.30 before the winning sides contest the 2017 Telekom Cup final. Each match consists of one 45-minute period to play, with a penalty shootout to determine the winner in the event of a draw.
Tickets for the 2017 Telekom Cup in Düsseldorf are available from today at fan-friendly prices from €12,50 to €40.
