Boateng delivers championship shield to the Erlebniswelt

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue May 22, 2018 1:20 pm

The championship shield was hoisted at Marienplatz on Sunday and has now taken up residence at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt: two days after the championship celebrations on the Town Hall balcony, Jérôme Boateng delivered the original Meisterschale to the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt. Hundreds of fans hailed the FCB centre-back when he deposited the trophy for the sixth German championship title in a row in its allotted display cabinet. Visitors to the club museum can marvel at the original shield for a few weeks before it will be replaced by an official replica. One Victoria trophy and 27 championship shields are now on display in the museum's Via Triumphalis.

"The championship title is always very special - and it's a great honour to deliver the shield to our museum," Boateng said on his visit. The 29-year-old, who has won 15 titles with FC Bayern, told the fans: "We want to fight for all three titles again next season." The injured defender was an onlooker for the cup final on Saturday but sounded the all-clear for the World Cup in Russia. At the moment Boateng is performing running exercises, "but I'm confident. The World Cup is the goal." Germany will be "chased" in the tournament in Russia, said Boateng: "We know we have to play even better than in 2014."

Boateng was visibly delighted when he walked through the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt with the special exhibit. After Dante (2013), Pep Guardiola (2014), Arjen Robben (2015), Robert Lewandowski (2016) and Philipp Lahm (2017) the centre-back continued a tradition, deputising as a courier. Bayern aim to make sure it will continue in the future.

Hopefully he can return to some sort of fitness and reach his top level again...
