Advent lighting for the Allianz Arena

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Dec 01, 2017 4:55 pm

'Tis the season, and on Sunday the first candle will be lit on the Advent wreath. To mark this, the Allianz Arena will be lit up in a special light show. On the four Sundays over Advent, as well as over the Christmas period (24th to 26th), FC Bayern’s home will look like a massive Christmas present. From 16:30 to 22:00 on those days, the Allianz Arena will be lit up in red and green. There will also be 11 Christmas trees lighting up the path up to the Allianz Arena in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Thanks to Volunteers

The day before the unveiling of that light show, there will be an extra celebration in the Allianz Arena. FC Bayern will use the home game against Hannover to honour volunteer workers as part of the German FA’s (DFB) campaign “Thanks to Volunteers”, which is now in its 20th year. As well as other campaigns to mark this anniversary, there will also be an “amateur ball” – a special matchball. Referee Guido Winkmann will also wear a special shirt. The “Thanks to Volunteers” campaign traditionally takes place to mark the “International Volunteer Day” on 5 December.

FCB nominated for SportTechie Award

The 3D hologram press conference for the 2017 Audi Cup at Säbener Straße was an impressive event for all involved. It created the illusion that Jürgen Klopp and Diego Simeone were present on the podium in Munich, instead of being back in Liverpool and Madrid, respectively. For this technological innovation and the FC Bayern HackDays, which FCB will host in January, the record champions have been nominated for the SportTechie Award 2017. This honours sports clubs for their contribution in technological development. As well as Bayern, the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers (both American football), the Sacramento Kings (basketball) and the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles (indoor American football) are the other hopefuls in the category for “Most Innovative Sports Team”, which will be announced on 13 December.

Lahm receives Medal of the Bavarian Constitution

Yet another honour for Philipp Lahm! The long-time FC Bayern player has been honoured with the Medal of the Bavarian Constitution. Lahm, who ended his career as a player in the summer, was honoured with the gold medal for his special volunteer work. As part of the Philipp Lahm Foundation, he has been supporting underprivileged children and teenagers for many years. Five people have received the gold medal this year, 45 the silver medal. Citizens who have contributed to the solidarity of people in Bayern in a special way and represent the values of the Bavarian Constitution have been awarded the Medal of the Bavarian Constitution since 1961.
