Seeing that now. Also between 25-50 injured. Not sure whether any of our German members are from the vicinity. I hope everyone is fine.

Various German media are reporting that about 25 people have been injured, with Bild newspaper claiming the injuries are due to the use of CS gas.

Yeah there are a few conflicting reports. Some are saying multiple deaths, some saying no serious injuries due to the use of gas.

My friend who's been living in Malta for some 25 years or so does not have a vote. Nor has he yet been given Maltese citizenship. A Brexit would affect him since he'd be treated as a non-EU resident in Malta, and yet he has no vote.

Strange because my Singaporean and Malaysian friends can vote. Do you have to be a resident perhaps? That doesn't really make sense though.

I can't vote but I'd be remain.

Since he has not lived in the country for such a long time, he lost his right to vote. He also has no rights to vote in Malta either.

Here's the explanation:

Citizens of Ireland, Malta and Cyprus resident in the UK are eligible to vote in the referendum and citizens of other EU countries do not have it. Ireland and Britain have more than 30 years old bilateral agreement where citizens of one country have a right to participate in the elections of another. Cypriots and Maltese have that right as a citizen of the Commonwealth.

Nope. He is a UK citizen. He has been trying to get Maltese citizenship for decades without luck and has never had a chance to vote in any form of election anywhere.

Why has he been unable to be naturalised here? Losing the right to vote in the UK due to not living there in a long time makes sense, but one would expect him to have acquired Maltese citizenship by now.

EDIT: Although I did recently hear that it's a very complicated process here unless you marry a Maltese citizen.

He has been married to a Maltese woman for over 8 years. They give him a different excuse every time. The last one was that he should pay hundreds of thousands for the citizenship scheme.

Shame really. It's stupid not to have someone who has been a permanent resident for decades not be a citizen.

Support for Britain staying in the EU is stronger in Malta than anywhere else in the EU, a survey has shown.

The Brexit Showt survey was carried on websites in all EU countries, including timesofmalta.com.

Readers were asked to express a Yes or No opinion (a Showt) on Brexit.

Brexit Showt is not a scientific poll; instead it is designed to give citizens a simple means of public expression and the satisfaction of having their voices heard, counted and remembered.

Sixty nine per cent of respondents in Malta declared themselves to be in favour of Remain and just 31 per cent backed a Brexit. Ireland came next, with 65 per cent backing Britain's continued EU membership.

Seventy two per cent of Greek respondents backed Brexit as did 71 per cent of people in Slovakia. [source]

Doubt that this video is genuine... how could it go online this fast?

The attacker was the only casualty... from the reports I read.
