Hello. A heavy earthquake hit Ecuador last Saturday. This is how it felt like in one of the days afterwards.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has taken control of six churches in the war-torn southeastern city of Diyarbakir in his latest move to squash freedom of speech and religious movement.

The state-sanctioned seizure is just the latest in a number of worrying developments to come out of increasingly hardline Turkey, which is in advanced talks with the EU over visa-free travel for its 80 million citizens.

Included in the seizures are Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox churches, one of which is over 1,700 years old.

They have now effectively become state property - meaning they are run by the government - in a country with a dire human rights record where about 98 percent of the population is Muslim. [source]

Excellent!!! The same guy is arriving soon in Croatia, the one who supports moderate cannibals, Al-Nusra and ISIL, allows them to enter Syria in the last 4 years, etc. etc. =D>

Victory! Human rights strike all over again! Hura! #proudtobeademocrat :D

No, we have to review our history textbooks that view Ottoman Turks as enemies and disown our national heroes to please them... not talking about Croatia here though.

You know the late 20th and especially the 21st century motto - "who cares when you have a festival of democracy and human rights... The only important thing is an economic balance."

He will visit Croatia in six days, on 26 Apr. [source]

do you know why? Maybe to gather support for Turkey's accession to the E U ?

I have distant cousins /one of my cousins is fighting against ISIS and curds at the moment,he is in the frontline/in Turkey, from what i'm hearing for years and years, they will never be in EU,because Turkey is not a mature European-style democracy. Its politics are a tussle between an overbearing military and Islamists of varying hues. Human rights are routinely abused. Dozens of journalists languish in jail. Amnesty International’s annual report is filled with accounts of torture, free speech violations, denial of minority rights, unfair trials, failure to protect women. Europe would import the intractable Kurdish issue, also despite it recent growth, Turkey remains an underdeveloped economy. Its GDP per capita at 13000 eur is less than half the EU average. The entry of a country that poor and that big would place unbearable strains on EU finances. Turkey’s wealth is unequally spread, meaning that an army of poor immigrants would head west, joining the estimated 10 million Turks already living in the EU.

That is the problem cause wealth is not properly distributed...
But they where heading in the right direction before Erdogan...
As for the EU accession... if they do start to form part; all the immigrants they are taking back from Europe will be free agian to enter the EU.

Haha, yes. Ridículo but that's one of the reasons. Battle of Mohács(in Hungary, 30 km away from Croatian border) is the another reason.

Romania expelled from Eurovision Song Contest
Romania has been expelled from this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The TVR offices.
The TVR offices.
The European Broadcasting Union, which produces the annual competition, said the decision was taken after Romania's national broadcaster, Televiziunea Romana (TVR), failed to pay debts totalling more than €14 million.
A statement on the Eurovision website said: "The EBU has withdrawn member services from Romanian public service broadcaster Televiziunea Romana (TVR) following the non-payment of debts totalling CHF 16 million.
"TVR will now no longer be able to participate in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest and will lose access to other EBU member services including the Eurovision News and Sports News Exchanges, the right to broadcast specific sporting events, legal, technical and research expertise and lobbying services." [source]
