Sounds more like an ordinary crime than a terror attack.

Well I could shout that myself but it doesn't make me part of ISIS or any other terrorist group. Who knows what his motivation for the attack was... but the attack itself resembles ordinary murders more closely than terror attacks.

A planet similar to Earth that may have deep oceans and harbour life has been discovered in another solar system just 4.27 light years away - close enough to be reached by future space missions. [source]

We can probably have probes there in around 20-30 years...

If the probes leave now and arrive in 20 years time, I calculate they need to travel at 216 million km/h. We're nowhere close to reaching such speeds.

Dammit, that's about the most on-topic post this thread will ever get.

With the current record space travel speed (58,536 km/h) if the same spacecraft was to leave now and travel at this record speed it would take around 79,280 years to arrive.

If I understand the theory behind this correctly, the chances for these probes to arrive on certain times depend greatly on other planets' gravity as they use them to slingshot them towards the next way-point sort to speak. The alignments of these planets are therefore crucial. It is either that or my lackluster 5 am coffee talking.

The article says the Russian project aims to reach 20% of the speed of light, which I guess should mean 1 light year per 5 years. Admittedly, I rounded down the 4.27 light years to 4, which would take 20 years if this project were to set off today. So the question is, can we get so technologically advanced within 10 years? I believe we can.

If they think that in 10 years' time they can beat the current speed record (which was set 10 years ago BTW, that's how fast things are progressing) by 3,687.5 times (yes, that's a multiple) I think they're bluffing.

Probably not helped by the fact that the main scientific pursuits don't seem to be in space anymore.
