They were the ones that played with the shape of borders, not only in Europe but almost everywhere...

Borders are social constructs - yet more reason to support collaboration. Heck, we were already all united for almost a thousand years. :P

Very sad day for Britain and Europe today. I voted Remain and there was never any doubt in my mind about that. We have never been best friends with the EU and it's always been slightly different with us, but I really think it will hit us hard. If the EU doesn't want to implode no way will we get some incredible exit terms that mean not much different to when we were in the EU.

I am also very sad because this will surely also mean that Scotland (in which every region voted remain) will want another independence referendum and will vote to leave the UK. I was so happy when they decided to stay a couple of years ago but it was close then and this will surely tip it the other way. Honestly I can't blame them if they decide to become independent now.

As for Northern Ireland, don't expect to see a united Ireland' in any way, shape or form because of EU exit. There are far too many other political, religious and cultural sensitivities and many sour memories about many years of war with the IRA Over there.

Many people in the UK seem to think we still live in the days of the British Empire and are some form of global super power like America still. Reality is we needed the EU as much as it needed us.

I am very sorry to our friends in Europe we have let you down!

Sure the EU isn't perfect but politics never are!

In Tesco earlier, the cashier asked the foreign couple in front of me if they wanted help packing their bags. Fook me, we only voted out yesterday, give them a chance!!!

Forget about us. It's very sad, especially for me since I love Britain and its culture and would definitely have spent a few years of my life there, but we have 27 other nations to give us these opportunities. It might actually turn out better for me on a personal level if the EU survives because once all the British tranlsators are gone it'll open up more opportunities for me, especially since translators generally only translate into their native language, meaning in Europe's case it'll mostly be Maltese, Irish, and Cypriots doing English now.

The ones I feel sorry for are the British youth, who unequivocally wanted to stay in. A generation that had everything has condemned them remain confined within one state, losing so many other opportunities across Europe which the rest of us have. As if putting them through a recession as soon as they started graduating and making them pay for the senseless spending of the older generation was not enough...

The London one is certainly not the youths. London's population is around 20-25% European.

Why would those 52%, especially those who voted for nationalist reasons, leave the country? I can see youngsters leaving, but only if they can afford to study in Europe, and there's a good chance they'll stay there like the Maltese used to stay in the UK in the past.

This would be the perfect time for the Queen to suddenly go Medieval on everyone and veto or block this whole thing...

I cannot imagine the scenario the other way ... the Remain winning and the Exit saying that the Ref should be repeated and and and

Imagine the comments...

The ppl have spoken and others will do the same unless there is a revamp in the eu

Yes, unfortunately the people have spoken and their decision will have to be respected even though it was a decision that should not have been taken by the common person. They will come to regret it. Many already are.
