some of the comments here are the mirror image of the arrogant EU.

Roonzil wrote:LOL, he already is...and I'm not surprised. The Dutch, however, can only hold a referendum on laws and treaties, not about the EU membership on its own (we had a referendum on a treaty with Ukraine, last year). So the only way Wilders can make us leave the EU, is if he wins the election next year. Which I can totally see happening with the current unrest (and casual racism) about the refugee crisis. The only upside is that our government is always a Coalition Government, so he'll need support from other parties, and I'm pretty sure almost none of them will support him in leaving the EU (apart from maybe the far left Socialist Party).

Edit: if we do leave the EU, I'll just jump ship and move next door to Germany, thanks!

I guess you'd better start looking for a place (Koeln is the nearest and nicest  ) cause Wilders is going to be your leader very soon.

It was really interesting waking up today and seeing this news on my phone... A day that I'll remember for awhile depending on what pans out in the next couple months/years

Ramseij, do you even read that BS?!
You say something about arrogant and in THE VERY NEXT post you demonstrate a perfect display... ;)
And with all that arrogance talk there's still not even an attempt of an answer to the questions, let alone a conclusive argument...
Come to Germany Roonzil, good to have you!

FCB general wrote:So they took away from you the right to decide what you are going to do of yourselves? Nice! :)

EU will either make new necessary reforms or it shall disappear because its stupidity, arrogance and disrespect toward all people.

Congrats on not understanding ;)
You cannot let people decide on every can of milk you produce
There's what, like 100m Brits? Good luck!
Now it's more possible in the Netherlands, but some issues are just too complicated to let peasants decide (im obviously using the hyperbole here for emphasis...) on them... Just look at the google querries... No one knows anything... To this point I'm still waiting fir sonebody here to fill that "independence" claim with meaning...
They elect democratic representatives in order to do that... But it doesn't work without the smallest bit of trust... It's easy to only **** complain all the time... Everybody claims they know better - where are your solutions? I'm happily expecting them...
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

I feel like you really like to underestimate people. People can do whatever they want of their own country. They can burn it entirely if they decide it. I wouldn't never push them that far.

I'm not European, and I'm not really passionate about the Brexit issue, that being said and as a neutral observer, I think the current form of the EU the way I see it makes no sense at all, it's neither federalism nor intergovernmental cooperation among sovereign nations.

No surprise here unfortunately :( I stayed up till about 2.30am (1.30am in the UK) and knew after just the first 8 or so results (out of 300+) that they were leaving, despite the remain camp winning most of the first ones. They were all much closer than expected, and in the ones that leave won, it was by a much larger margin than thought. I woke up a couple of hours later having left the news on and saw that they were about two-thirds of the way through with Leave having tripled their lead. I knew I would wake up to sad news.
We will rise again! (when we stop burying our heads in the sand)

Most people around the world don't trust their elected representatives anymore and we can't really blame them for that.

If nobody cares, nobody cares. Referendum goes every day like in Switzerland.

We'll replace UK for Turkey in our European family.

You're right... Now that is a first step towards constructive criticism... It is first and foremost a common economic zone... So I think opting to go out should also mean you don't get the benefits... Somehow, rw supporters always want the good without the bad, however small the bad may be... Life doesn't work that way, neither does politics...

Anyone want to adopt me in that case? I'm a horrible cook (apart from breakfast dishes), but I am great fun during Bundesliga Season!

On a serious note, I have very little problems with the EU at this moment. Yes, the Greece stuff was horrific and scary last year, and the refugee crisis does make you rethink all the open borders. But that's a fairly small price to pay for 60 years of peace and prosperity. Tbh, I think we will desperately need a strong EU to face the power shifts on this planet (China and Russia mainly).

They've got plenty of Balkan countries to adopt... Brexit, Frexit, Nethexit, Spexit, F@ckit... until only countries of ex-Yugoslavia remain and then we have another war. :P

I agree with almost everything you said... I want a strong Europe which listens to its citizens. On the contrary the leaders only think about their pockets and how big the tomatoes or the potatoes have to be big/small for export...
I do not know how many of you went on to read how it all started way back in 1957/8... That was the ideal union...but now no they want to interfere in every single thing...
