Took a gander at Drive thanks to the lovely folk of Half in the Bag. Wonderful movie, if perhaps a bit overdone in the nods to the 80s. The actual action in it was uncompromisingly brutal, which is a (slightly uncomfortable) refresh from other modern films. Christina Hendricks' scene reminded me a tad of that one in Scarface. Also quite possibly the very first movie I enjoyed a car chase in - tense, creative and quick in its conclusion. Like the absolutely visceral violence that caught even me off guard. Still, I'd say it's the best modern thriller since The Departed.

Don't let me fool you though, the action in it is quite sparse - it's not a Fast and Furious movie, not even close. It's a thriller first and foremost.

I agree about Drive + Bryan Cranston in the movie (even though it was a small role). :P

Bryan Cranston put in a solid performance, but Al Brooks and the subtle Ryan Gosling stole the show. Cranston will have to wait for the Half-life movie to get his big screen breakthrough. :P

Bryan Cranston is Gordon Freeman. Seriously, just look at him -

If a Half-life movie ever happens (there's always rumours and another one came out recently I think), it's gotta be him.

Yesterday, I watched Argo. I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller that uncovered a period I knew little about. It had me on the edge of my seat without a shot even being fired. This morning, I watched Shutter Island, which I also liked. It's one of those movies that messes with your head and has you wondering for a while after the movie is finished. Great job by Scorsese. Speaking of Scorsese, I watched Goodfellas the day the Guardiola signing was announced. I thought it was a brilliant biopic that showed how Henry Hill's empire of corruption and debauchery crumbled down and how he saved himself by turning against his own kind.
I'm watching Apocalypse Now now, thinking of watching Se7en or Fight Club soon.

If you liked Goodfellas, try Casino. Closer to real events and on a bit grander scale. That is, IF you survive the last three you mentioned.

Apocalypse Now is long but I liked that movie.

However, the thing I want to ask is you haven't watched Se7ven and Fight Club YET?
What's up with that?

Also go watch Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Lucky Number Slevin if you haven't seen those too yet.

You're missing out on great movies. :P

I only watched half of Apocalypse Now, will try to finish it today. Casino, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Lucky Number Slevin have been added to my list, as I've already seen the brilliant Snatch!

Watched Flight (2012) last night. A good movie, but a bit prolonged to be honest. The plot is very simple, and you'll get the idea straight after the very interesting first 20 minutes. After that it's all repetition. I'd give it a 7/10.

When I watched Snatched I went from totally bored to ROTFL faster than a Dortmund counterattack. Pair it with 'Pulp Fiction' and you will have yourself one heck of a weekend.
