University/ College & Study abroad

Postby German-American » Wed Jan 27, 2016 5:21 pm

So my University, West Virginia University, are offering a study abroad program in Germany for nine weeks!!! I would be studying in Erfurt. It is expensive, around $9,000 but covers everything. From food(they give you money to buy food), airfare, an apartment, 3 classes, train passes, and all other expenses. It would teach classes in Communications, I do not major in communications but I could use those credits to minor in communications. Classes are three days a week, and then the rest are for me to travel where ever I want. It seems like an AWESOME deal in my view, because I can go to fricken GERMANY and see some family...possibly even so forum friends :)

Please use this thread to talk about anything with University or studying!!

Germany is one of the leading European countries in education. That's great!

I'm in my final year locally, will hopefully be done in five months' time. I'm planning on taking a year out, working and saving up then I plan to do a Masters in translation, either locally or in the UK/Germany/France depending on finances.
We will rise again! (when we stop burying our heads in the sand)

It is? As someone who's very much involved in that field, I can tell you that those days are over (if that EVER was the case...)

Why would you need to pay them to give you money to buy you some food? :P :D

I'd at least try to contact some universities first... They are EAGER to find natives to do classes - I believe they'd even pay you instead of you paying for anything to work for them... That's so paradox! You've got something to offer to them here!

Also: could you bring a dozen of Krispy Kremes and some Cherry Coke? :P
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

That just made my day haha. Good point though, I believe it is because that is the only that financial aid and scholarships can cover food. So you don't need to pay right out of pocket...immediately at least

Just quickly, because it's soooo OT: too few teachers (saving is the key word here...), too much pressure on teachers, a spoiled youth never seen before... That's a really explosive mixture...
